Is this considered a forgery?
I'm the caretaker of Room 217..............I've always been the caretaker of Room 217
Thanks for all the quick feedback, folks. I've already contacted the seller about my concerns regarding the legitimacy of the signature and was issued a full refund. Better to be safe than sorry. I'd rather put that money towards a signed book, anyway.
There is a long tradition of secretaries and assistants signing letters for their bosses. However the SK/ss disignation only indicates that the assistant typed the letter, not that she signed it. There's a different annotation that's supposed to be used in that case.
http://www.kcitraining.com/styleguide/letelem.htmlSecretaries who sign a letter for the author should sign the author's name and then add their own initials either in the middle or on the right side under the signature.
Reference Initials
Reference initials (the writer's initials and the secretary's/typist's initials) appear two lines below the last line of the signature block and flush with the left margin.
If only the secretary's/typist's initials are used, they are usually lowercase, e.g., rgn. If the writer's initials are included, they are in all capitals, followed by a slash mark or colon, and then followed by the secretary's /typist's initials in lower case, e.g., TLM/rgn or TLM:rgn.

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Did you manage to snag the traycase, Simon?

If any of you are not familiar with Jeff Whitey, send me a PM for his info. I have had him make me (Custom to my specifications) at least 15 of them. He foil stamps and does different colors. His pricing is super cheap and the customer service is out of this friggin world. Trust me!

Does Jeff do traycases?
I do not think so... BUT you would have to ask him. His slipcases are AMAZING though... and like $12.95 for most if I remember correctly. He is very fair and does not mark up postage. His communication is bang on too. A signed book MUST have protection and that is why I use him so much... he does good work.
