I wonder why there is a picture of the limitation page that looks moisture damaged and then a nice clean picture.

I recently purchased a book that had a similarly wavy copyright page, after the seller provided a clear picture that showed there was no actual damage.

Is this a camera effect? Is it something else. I have previously rejected books based on apparent water damage.

Personally I think it is just a terribly low quality photo so the encoding is causing the shadows and background texture to make it look wavy. When I soon in to look at the sigs it all gets pixelated in the background.

I can’t say for absolute sure, but I think these copies were sold on eBay a while back, and I’m pretty sure the one limitation page looked the same way in those photos. To me, this would indicate that it isn’t just the light/photograph quality. It may have even been mentioned in this thread at the time, but I really don’t want to look for it

I also think it's a quality of the page itself, not a trick of the light or an artifact of the image quality. I don't think it's moisture damage, though, as I would expect the signature ink to show bleeding.

I know the gentleman very well and will call him later to establish if there is a problem.
There will be another post here in a few hours with the answer and hopefully some changed images on EBay.

As promised I have contacted Alexander at “firstandfine”. He has answered the question I posted which should allay any fears of water damage. I have dealt with him many times in the past and he is honest, straightforward and values his reputation.
He is unable to change the images on the eBay listing, however more images are available on his website, www.firstandfine.
Having checked with him it appears that these particular pair of books were not bought previously by Alexander from eBay.
Hoping this helps any interested parties.
