Don't hold back on Bob's account!
It's not that I don't want the thing, it's just that ~$20 is all I am willing to pay, and it will sell for more than that, so I am caught between the thought of helping a valued member (Bev) get the most for something he is selling, and driving up the price unnecessarily for another valued member (Carlosdetweiler). Therefore I'll just step aside-or not. Who knows what whimsy may strike me.
King signature on flat stock paper (I think sig is ok, but I am not an expert)
Antaeus, STEPHEN KING, Blind Willie, World's First!
King inscription, with mistake in Uncut The Stand
Sig looks good to me (the non expert)
Dang, if I wasn't saving money to go see him, I would bid on that one.

Wonder why no one is bidding on this?

Signature looks good and the price seems really good to me.
Stephen King The Green Mile GALLEY/PROOFS BOOK #1 SIGNED
Not sure about starting at 3.5K, but it certainly is intriguing.
I'm looking for #6--I have the others. $3,500 isn't too far out of line, because #6 goes for about $2,000 when you can find it--and that's just too much for me.
John
$3500 is a more than fair price especially since one of the copies is legitimately signed.
The most recent sales I can recall for full sets were in the $3000 to $3500 range unsigned. There will never be more than a dozen or so complete sets since only a dozen or so #6 escaped destruction.
By saying Not Sure, I should have clairified that I have no idea of the worth, and hoped someone could clarify. Evidently the price is not far fetched given the rarity of #6, and King's signature on #1.

All 7 Dark Tower First Editions, with signed bookplate.
I've seen and touched these books (I frequent the store when I'm up that way). I doubt that he'll get the 2 Grand he's been looking for forever.
I think the listing is weak. Lazy--he just copied and pasted from ABE. Lots of negative feedback from listing books he no longer owns.
But! If you're looking for an instant collection, the books are in very nice condition.
I would love for experts here to chime in as to what they think the current market value is for these.
I (being no expert) put the value as such:
DTI VG+/VG+ ~$600
DTII $45
DTIII (Slight warp to spine) $25
DTIV $175
DTV $25
DTVI $20
DTVII $20
Bookplate signed by King ~$50
Total market value=$960
That's about what I had--right around $1000. I gave a few more dollars to The Gunslinger at about $7-$750. The final 3 books could be had, in NF condition for $30 total to a thrifty shopper.
Edit to add: When I first saw these books about 4 years ago, I conisdered offering him around $1200. But, he said he paid $1500 for them.
The seller is making a mistake selling them as a package deal.
Most DT fans out there are already going to have several of these titles in their collection, and are not going to want to pay for books they already own.
He should sell the DT1, DT2, DT3 and DT4 separately, and sell DT5-DT7 together.
He'll still never come close to $2000 unless someone not knowing the true market value comes along . Like you, I'd sell them individually and use the standard auction style, starting each at .99 cents.
Dang! Looks like you are getting a nice response to those Bev. I would have bid on the tennis ball if there was any way I could get a purchase like that past my wife.

Can I ask you why you think you are NOT an expert, on this or on fake/real signatures?
You know as much and have invested more than the average collector...I certainly consider myself an expert on real sigs and market value...in fact, this is THE site for experts!
Granted, Hutch or Betts might know more than most of us, but I think the knowledge base here is very high...
Anyway, it's been sticking in my craw awhile, how you always qualify your observations with "I'm not an expert." Yes, you are - maybe not the top 2 percent of all experts, but an expert all the same.
Thanks for the flattery, but in the scheme of things I do consider myself a tier below Hutch, CallaWolf, and certainly Carlosdetweiler (other names escape me but there are more) as a reference. I am certainly trying to expand my knowledge, but still feel the need in certain situations to qualify the fact that I offer an opinion, but perhaps not the most "valued" opinion available here.
I am not trying to be falsely humble. I only want those who come here to get the best possible information/evaluation/opinion possible.
Congratulations, Bev and Bob. That's only the second of these tennis balls I've seen on eBay (I got the other one!). I have a feeling those are fairly scarce.
John
One reviewer mentioned in the preamble to his review that his editor plonked the tennis ball on his desk and said, "I assume you understand the significance of this." I wonder what other reviewers do with these promo items. I'll bet somewhere there's a guy actually playing tennis using this ball. It's a Wilson #1, after all!
