I have pulled my bids. HE WILL NOT provide a picture and has beaten around the bush too much for me. There IS NOW NO QUESTION in my mind this book is damaged. His last response to me was "there is no damage and you can see that in the pictures". He is playing a game.. to make it look like it is lighting (which he told me) and by providing so many pictures, no returns accepted... he is covering his ass and I am told by Ebay... buyer protection would not apply here. SO NO THANKS. This will be a nightmare for anyone who buys it. By pulling my bids it is at around $5500 which is probably where this will stay and even then I fear it is too high. This seller is up to no good and that is a shame.... if he was up front on this book it would be different. He isnt and is rude to boot.

I believe I was the one that posted about the bullets. Here are the images I'm talking about. Your copy does not appear to look like this, unless I'm missing something?

And from what I've read, it appears to be zinc rust (oxidation) caused by moisture contact or high humidity.

You can also see a few foxing spots on the text block, also possibly caused by moisture.

And just to add, this white has rubbed off onto the traycase, unless this normally happens with this book?

How sad. If it went for a lot lower, then I think it might be worth someone snatching it up for a good price, but at over a $5k selling price I think most collectors would vomit with rage every time they looked at it.

The bullets they used are lead tips, not sure about his but mine has NO oxidation.

No, if you look back in the thread you will see the concern. He had been evasive and is trying to pull a fast one. The reason I pulled out and am sure many have. The book even at 4K is too high with the water damage

Wow, lots of bids pulled. Too bad the seller wasn't up front about it. It's mostly this area, in which he won't reply to any inquiries about it. (grabbed from Brian's post)

But there are other clues like the oxidized bullets and a few spots of foxing. My guess is that it was stored in a very humid room.

I haven't even started in on the back... what's that black stuff around the bullets? If this is normal, someone chime in.

Looks like excess glue as these were all hand made the bullets were inserted and glued by hand is my understanding, not the neatest job done on copy YY
