Yeah, but speculative sci-fi doesn't normally do well in these tournaments...

So I wasn't surprised when I saw Halloween get a lot of votes last time (I am a fan of the film) but then to see The Devil's Rejects get kicked out in the first round was surprising. I really do enjoyed Halloween, and I stated my reasons why before, but I was also under the impression that that's one of Rob Zombie's least liked films. But my guess is it is made more for the masses, and it is a known property that a lot of people love, so maybe that's why it's getting a lot of votes. Bummed that Devil's didn't make it on, but I can see where it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I haven't seen his Halloween re-makes yet, but Devil's Rejects is my favorite film of his. I think it's his most well crafted one, too, so it's surprising, I guess, but also not surprising for the reasons you said.

Well Halloween is not even in the same league as Devil's Rejects, but I still enjoyed it. Then again I enjoy all his movies. Are you going to see 3 From Hell?

I need a scanner like Bruce had. Of course I still need Sheri Moon's autograph but I doubt that will happen and Rob's would be cool as the director but I doubt he does the autograph circuit.

Wow, I'm the exact opposite. I thought his Halloween reboot was pretty good. House of 1000 Corpes was meh and The Devils Rejects was borderline unwatchable.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

To me, Rob Zombie had no idea who Michael Myers is. Instead of making him evil incarnate as he should be, he's a product of a broken home and a juggernaut who started running through walls. I've always seen Michael Myers as a spider. He waits and waits and waits and waits and then he strikes when the time is right. Weirdly enough, I felt the broken home prologue to Zombie's film was the best part of the film, but it also ruined Michael Myers for me.

The recent remake showed Michael Myers on a more heightened rampage, but it felt more like Michael Myers than Zombie's approach.

I don't know, I got a different feel from it. I thought he did a good job of showing how inhuman Michael was, even from childhood. Maybe there was a shred of humanity in him in the beginning, but despite his mother's love it couldn't save him. I saw him as a complete psychopath, completely detached from reality.

    Halloween 2, now that's a different story

I hated the second one. I even watched it a second time to see if maybe I could separate it from what I had envisioned and just enjoy it as a stand alone film, but that didn't happen.

I'm more with Heather. I liked the fact that RZ gave him an actual backstory. I don't think in the original he was really supposed to be anyone except this mindless, almost supernatural killing machine that can't be stopped. Even in the credits he was listed as "The Shape".

Yes! Don't know if I'll make it to the theater for it (does it come out next month?), but I'll definitely see it at some point. I'm really curious to see what they do with it, given the ending of The Devil's Rejects.
