Just received mine yesterday so I've got to get on them! I wonder if the upcoming hardcover will help fill in some of that incomplete feeling or if it will be totally different scripts?
I'm curious to find out as well.

To the best of my knowledge it's a new story. I've not seen it in any other anthology. However, I don't collect magazines so it might have appeared in one at some point but I don't think so.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please!
I think I'll probably get this.

All three are very true but I think Gaiman wins this one and it's not even close. I like him a fair deal more than Hill but I had to stop collecting him. It's not even about money, or necessarily the lack of space to house all those different editions. It simply stopped being fun for me. I'd finally get caught up and then he'd do another limited of the same title. B&N are doing another omnibus of American Gods and there's also a four book set AG coming out later this year too. I'm not complaining at all but it's gotten to the point that I don't even pay attention to all these fancy reprints because I know there's going to be another one six months from now.

I hope I don't sound bitter. Gaiman himself has managed to kill all the fun of Gaiman collecting, IMO.

I agree - as a big Gaiman collector, I don't buy any of the reprinted material. In fact, I don't buy reprinted material from anyone - Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, etc. I know many collectors like to own every edition that comes out, and that's great. Just not for me.

As for Joe Hill and others I collect, I also don't buy every S/L edition just because one comes out. I have not bought The Fireman because I did not like the book at all. I don't have to be a completist to enjoy collecting.

When it comes to reprints I am very selective. HP for example, I did not buy the CHildrens covers or the adult covers or the other adult covers but I did buy the illustrated editions because I like the art and it makes it feel like a am reading the book again for the first time. It provides me with the imagery that I could make in my mind as a kid but can no longer do. Same with ASOIAF, I will probably get the illustrated editions for the same reason.

I am also a big Gaiman collector but dont worry about most of the reprints. I tend to have just one trade edition of each book only (including in that any flatsigned trade editions, or the signed/numbered like the Goldsboro versions) and then the S/L.

Having said that I will pick up the new Ag/Anansi Boys/Black Dog/Monarch books, as the artwork is impressive (and the books are fully illustrated).

I think many authors now have bowed to popular request and signed copies are much more freely available 'off the shelf' than they ever were. Great for casual fans, but no so for collectors. Its a case of picking and choosing what you want I guess, but I dont feel the urge to collect everything possible.

(and as for reprints....I think J K Rowling wins that my a mile more than Gaiman! There are dozens of different series of editions of those books now)

Far as I know, just the scriptbook and then the graphic novel collection that's being released in December. Doesn't look like it will incorporate Tales From The Darkside though. Personally, I'll get whatever is released.

Tales From The Darkside: Scripts by Joe Hill

Joe Hill: The Graphic Novel Collection

Edit: Barnes and Noble show release dates as November 8 for the scriptbook and December 27 for the graphic novel collection. I'm going to check with my local comic shop to see if they'll be getting 'em in. Much rather throw the cash their way.

Read the TFTD Scripts and enjoyed them. Liked "The Sleepwalker" the best. CW should have continued with it. It would have fit in great right after Supernatural.

Agreed. While I haven't read TFTD Scripts yet, The Sleepwalker was my favorite of the comics.
