The 80's is probably the weakest decade in film for me.*

I've compiled my usual Top 30 for each year of the 1980s so I technically have 300. There are plenty of both mainstream and more art-house stuff, I don't think the '80s were that much different to be honest. Maybe a little, sure. If anyone's looking for ideas, here are those lists:

Very good looking lists. Still a ton of films I have to see on these lists. I noticed a bunch of films on your lists that I've been collecting over the last few years as well.
Also, I was about to post that you linked 1987 twice, then I decided to refresh the page first. I know you by now.

I'm not looking forward to the 80s because Amadeus is going to lose to like The Goonies in the second round and I'll die inside.

Great lists Mae. You reminded me of a few that I really love. The 80s is easily one of my favorite decades of film.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
I just looked at my list. I'm at about 110, with probably half being comedies.
Looking at Mae's lists I realize (like with most other decades) there are a ton of popular movies that I've heard of but just have never gotten around to watching.

Nothing wrong with comedies. I have plenty on my lists, some pretty high up.
I think it's safe to say The Shining is an early favorite for the 80s.

So when are we starting the 80s round? Want to make sure I have time to compile my list and be around for the nominations.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
The 2000s tournament will end the week of Thanksgiving, and the nominations for the 1980s will begin mid-January, let's say the 13th?
Ah, cool. Plenty of time with it coming after the holidays.

I'm sure Amadeus will go pretty far though. I'm more worried that if something like Fanny and Alexander gets seconded it's not likely to make it out of the first round.
And so we are through five rounds, people! How time flies... The Octofinals begin on Monday!
Here are the standings after Round 5:
Moving on:

Great I still have six horses left in this race.
Dekalog as such wouldn't be eligible, I don't think. It was specifically made for TV and each episode is under an hour, so effectively short films if anything. Fanny and Alexander was also intended to be a TV series but was actually first screened as a long feature film. But A Short Film About Killing and A Short Film About Love would be fine to nominate, as those were episodes expanded to feature length and screen as movies.
Then those two I shall definitely be nominating if given the chance. I almost wonder if it is not a good idea for us to list some of the lesser known films we plan on nominating to give some of the folks participating that may not have seen them to make a better judgement call during nominations? I know they'll be some I've never seen, for sure.
