It was ok. I didn't really know what to expect and I've heard great such great things about Bird Box (but haven't gotten my copy from Dark Regions yet), that I wanted to be blown away and I wasn't.

Liking Three-Body so far. Not what I expected, in a good way, mostly.

Usher's Passing is very good - a bit like Matthew Corbett in tone, but quite a different subject matter. A cross between an Edwardian family drama, a mystery novel, with a dash of 80s suspense. Definitely among the better of his pre-Nightbird works.

And yes, I picked up the CD edition. I don't actually have a hard copy of this novel, just the Kindle and (just released) audiobook.

What'd you end up thinking about Sharp Objects?

And is The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck similar to The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck?

I really enjoyed Sharp Objects. I'd put it as my favorite of hers.

Just looked up the synopsis of the other book, and it sounds similar. I was a bit disappointed in it. I thought it would be more about ways of letting go, but it seemed more about his life. And honestly, I listened to the audio book this summer, and remember very little of it. So I guess it made a big impression on me

Glad you liked it. It's my favorite, too (though I haven't read Dark Places). Now you can start the series.

This has been a pretty weak reading year for me. I do feel like I've at least made up for it by reading three books just this past week.

    1. The Passage - Justin Cronin
    2. Bird Box - Josh Malerman
    3. Handling the Undead - John Ajvide Lindqvist
    4. Gwendy's Button Box - Stephen King / Richard Chizmar
    5. The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien
    6. The Shape of Water - Guillermo del Toro
