I've been on the phone with Waterstones' Customer Service three times today. First, I get a call from my CC company saying that they detected possible fraudulent activity. I'm thinking, "that's great, awesome catch". Until they tell me they rejected a payment request to Waterstones!! I was even more pissed when the CC company told me that I would have to try the purchase again; already knowing that this book is sold out. So, I called Waterstones. They looked up my order number and acknowledged that the payment had been rejected, but that they would re-submit and call me when it went through.
Three hours, no phone call. So, I call them again. "Oh, we've been trying to call you, but the call just wouldn't go through." At least they were able to resubmit the order and they said it went through successfully.
Then, I remembered seeing something on this forum about the quality of previous US shipping fiascos from Waterstones, so I called again and asked them what i needed to do to assure the book was packaged correctly so as to avoid any shipping damage. She told me she would send a message to the "internet" team and pass along the message. I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling with that, so I sent a message similar to the ones above. Hopefully, it will arrive intact.

Maybe that’s the issue. I got a fraud alert text this morning about the charge. The bank probably issued that credit.
If they could just mark it as an online purchase it shouldn't flag anything. It probably looks awful funny that we are magically in UK at a chain bookstore one day when I bought dinner in Texas last night.
I got my shipping notice as well. Crossing my fingers for save travels across the pond. I guess I don't have much of a choice if it has damage. They won't have any replacements, so either I keep it with the damage or return it for a full refund.

I have not received anything. no fraud alert from the bank and nothing from Waterstones. When I look at the tracking it just says processing.
