It’s BS - the S/L has no dust jacket. The design is a foil wrap directly onto the boards.

Simon is correct - there is no dust jacket on the S/L.

Mine arrived today. Standard packing job by Waterstones, nothing different than usual. Book came through fine, so I'm happy.

I got mine today too. I can't decide if this is considered damage. 3 of the corners looks like this. I wonder if this is rubbing from the corners of the book inside the oversized mailer. What do you guys think?

Mine is similar, and when I removed the wrap, those areas are scuffed, but not bumped. There are a few other light dings too. It could be worse, but I'm still pissed. I emailed customer support and kind of read them the riot act just to see what they have to say.

Seems like a possibility. Regardless, that's the first and last time I'm ordering through them, unless they somehow wow me with their response to this situation, which I doubt is going to happen. It's just so stupid that they ship expensive books so irresponsibly. I've bought books from ebayers that have been packaged in cereal boxes, but even those sellers have added padding so that the books aren't damaged. These Waterstones dickbags basically gift wrap their books in cardboard for shipping.

From the photograph it seems the only thing definitely damaged is the shrink-wrap. You may be in luck.

I finally heard back from Waterstones this week. The response was basically, "Your order has been shipped. Let us know if it arrived in good condition."
On a related note, the last information on my tracking is that it arrived in New York last Wednesday. Did others get tracking info beyond that or did it just show up one day?

In mint condition, I might add.

I never got a tracking number either, but if you create or have an account with USPS, you can see all packages on the way to your home. This one has a tracking number ending with GB.
