    Nomination #7

"Tiny little baby..." - Pontypool (2009)
    Directed by: Bruce McDonald
    Spoiler:

I wasn't sure what to nominate from Pontypool so I went for this very creepy scene, mostly because there is barely any scenes, not just on Youtube, but on the internet itself. It was between this and the Kill Is Kiss Scene. All the stuff where they talk to Eye In The Sky Ken Loney is pure greatness in this film.

If you haven't seen Pontypool - WATCH IT

Looking back at the list of seconds/thirds, there are a couple of films missing from the list:

    1. Howard the Duck was both seconded and thirded by Merlin1958 and Needfulthings.

    2. The Untouchables was seconded by Sentinel. Granted he made two seconds at the same time, but the first one should be counted at least.

I now submit, for your enjoyment, the quintessential Bond scene.

Scene: "I expect you to die."
    Film: Goldfinger
    Director: Guy Hamilton
    Year: 1964

    3rd Nomination

There has only been 3 nominations/seconds since you last made your last nomination. Unfortunately two more people have to either nominate or second something before you can go again, my friend.

However when you do get the chance to make your next second, may I recommend the following for sir's delectation?

A truly stunning performance that would earn Al Pacino the Academy Award for Best Actor, the speech in this scene talks as much to leadership as any class at an Ivy league university. Both Mesmerizing and spectacular in its delivery, This is undoubtedly one of the greatest - if not THE greatest oratory moments in the history of cinema. Hoo-ah!

The full scene was not available, so I had to upload the entire movie. The scene starts at 2:12:20 and finishes at 2:28:41.

EDIT: Two more people just made nominations in the time I posted this, so you are good to go Tommy!!!

Interesting tidbit of info in 1948 when ROPE was made the shot could only last as long as the amount of film in the camera...Thus requiring 2 projectors to project the film without brakes (Early 3D movies used both projectors at the same time thus they required an intermission in order to change film in both projectors.) in order for the projectionist to know when to make the reel change CUE MARKS were placed on the film (upper right hand corner) With films now being projected from a single platter these marks have now been removed and give ROPE an even more one scene feel.

I know that cue marks or cigarette burns disappeared from films some time ago but I saw Ouija: Origin of Evil earlier this year and the director placed cue marks in the film just to make it seem older. Not sure how many noticed it but I thought it was pretty cool. That doesn't have much to do with what you said Bruce.

I really wish Hitchcock was still around and making movies. Just imagine what he could do with today's technology!

A question for participants, I want to nominate the opening scene from Scream, I just re-watched it, would you consider it a scene or a sequence?

It doesn't matter. The 'Battle of Hoth' from The Empire Strikes Back, the 'Warehouse fight scene' from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the 'Where are you? Here!' scene from Batman Begins are all sequences, yet it has not stopped any one of them from being successfully nominated and included in the list.

As there is no set rule stipulated about the use of sequences (only a previous discussion in the 'About a potential next tournament' thread), I think you should be fine to nominate whatever you like.

Scene: "What's your Favorite Scary Movie?"
    Film: Scream

    Year: 1996

Super duper crap quality of picture here but it's the only clip I've found that contains the full scene. I will continue looking but I'm willing to bet the vast majority of participants have seen it already!

One of my favorite movies. I still remember watching it in theaters and was shocked by the outcome. Definitely did not expect that to happen.

Yeah we decided to just included sequences, provided it all follows the same narrative flow/setting, such at the battle of Hoth/Omaha Beach Landing in Saving Private Ryan. I'm still not sure if the opening montage from Up counts since a montage is clearly different than a sequence or a scene and takes places in many settings over many years.
