Default The Constant Reader Awards will return in 2018!

Provided we all make it, the long-standing and popular but irregular tradition of our beloved community will return early next year with a bang! Our inaugural CRAs were held in those olden days of 2008-09, followed by a sophomore edition a year later in 2010. After a two year break we came back in 2012 and then again in 2014. Well, it's been a while, but just like the Olympics, the show will again get underway four years later in early 2018 (exact date and format to be determined).

    Default Stephen King' Finest Novel

This has probably been done before, but what the heck, right? Just a "straw poll" but what do YOU think is our favorite authors finest work?

After 50 odd major novel's there must be ONE book that is his finest work and will be the most remembered. What is it to you?

In my case I would say "The Shining". "Salem's Lot" a very close second. What do you think?

My apologies. Then move it where more appropriate? It's always fun to revisit these issues, no?

Though I LOVE all the classics, let me put in an early word for 11/22/63 (if we're continuing the thread).

My all time favorite The Shining. recent favorites include audio Under the Dome, Duma Key (listened to it upon returning from Casey Key!), recent favorite read 11/22/63. I am revisiting a lot of old King. Loving the audio of Needful Things read by SK.

All time favorite still the Shining.

I wonder if this would be better to break this into years? Because I know for me there was a long lull filled with okay books and then at some point SK found that magic again.
Move along. Nothing to see here.

For "classic" King, I'd say It, The Shining Pet Sematary, The Stand, Needful Things, and The Dark Half. For "new" King, I'd say Joyland, 11/22/63, and Duma Key.

    That's one, right?
