A question for those of you inclined to make and number such lists:

Given that you've begun a book (in 2017) and it now occupies a number on your list (say, #20) but you pause it in order to begin (and finish) another book, then return to book 20, which you may not finish in 2017 - does the original #20 stay 20 or does the short book that caused the pause become #20 after the fact and bump the potentially unfinished book to #21? Maybe it depends on whether this is a "books completed" list (in which case, the current #21 not only gets bumped but doesn't even belong on the list) or simply a "books read" list (in which case anything might go).

I am going to do this and have been devoting entirely too much mental energy to this.

I'd leave it on my list for 2017, even if I didn't finish it until 2018.

I don't keep lists so have no idea what all I read, but I admire those who have the discipline to keep them. I've always kind of wished I started keeping a master list when I started reading seriously back in my mid-twenties...would be great to remember all those titles I've read that I now have absolutely no memory of finishing. At this mid-point in the game (of life), though, it's not worth starting up such a list.

That said, though, I do keep an Access database (w/ pub info, replacement value, etc.) of all the books now in my personal library here in the house, so I guess that's something. But a lot of books have come and gone in the last two-plus decades...

I noticed that there is a new book/novella from Tom Deady called "Weekend Getaway." I really enjoyed his first couple of books including "Haven" published by CD.

Weekend Getaway was excellent. I'd definitely recommend it. I liked how it was just a novella, so it was very fast paced and there was no room for filler. Plus it had some twists and turns I didn't see coming.

I ended up reading it in one sitting. Definitely fast paced. This one reminded me a bit of something Bentley Little would write. Ordinary guy gets caught up in something beyond his control and things spiral deeper and deeper. There was maybe some Gerald's Game influence here. I really like Deady. I hope we get another novel from him soon.

I know he's got a few short stories recently released in some collections. And I'm pretty sure he has a YA novel that he just finished, but not sure when that will be published. I wouldn't be surprised about any King influence, he's a huge fan.

Your book reading speed is very fast because it will take me some time to finish my first book.
