Beautiful, Paul!
You don't know my kind.....You don't my mind.....Dark necessities are part of my design.....
You're making it very hard to wait for this one Paul! I know it will be worth more than the wait but still.....
Thanks for keeping us posted!
Want to see how the wood boards began?
Dude, That's just too cool. Really great insight into the behind-the-scenes action.
Thanks for keeping this blog about the process. It's really cool and interesting following along.

Fascinating. The behind the scenes info makes a great book even more enjoyable.
This looks amazing (as did TEOTD).
I didn't see the price for either on the website; can anyone say what they went for? I'm not likely to buy future volumes; just curious. If this info is "buyer only", I respect that.
Eastasia has always taught college students to feel pride or shame according to their race.
Paul Have you considered also having the artisans,Croft & the Binder(s) sign these books? Croft could sign the back of each cover.
I KNOW I WOULD LOVE IT!
Thanks for the comments everyone.
St. Troy, the price was $895.
Bruce, I had not considered having any of the artisans sign the book. Not a bad idea, although we couldn't sign the back of the boards because the marbled papers are applied there. I'll give it some thought.
The back of the wood cover...Not the inside papers.
I kind of assumed he would etch his name somewhere on the boards just as a matter of course. Does he not do that?
Looking for:
- Philtrum Press Eyes of the Dragon RED #165
- Fine Viking Eyes of the Dragon proof
Oh. Yeah, I don't really want a signature on the wood itself, even if it's on the back. Maybe really small at the bottom left or right... I don't know...
No it's not something that is normally done. I'll mention this idea to him next time we talk and see what he says. He's been making wood boards for years, so he'd know.
I assume he is doing the lettering on the cover? Then there is no reason he can't burn his signature on the back. (if it comes to that.)
Spoiler:
No he isn't doing the engraving. I have someone else handling that. His role is basically to make the boards and scorch them. I'll mention this to him and see what he says. Maybe he can brand his name on the back.
Spoiler:
Yeah, good one! If I added everyone involved we'd need 9 signatures!
Edit: actually, make that 10 with this other little thing I'm planning.
Been following along on FB. Love the progress photos and write ups. This is going to be some beautiful when all is said and done!
I like the idea of a signature page that includes everyone involved. Sort of like when the illustrator signs too, but this time you'd have the engraver, woodworker, binder, etc. Would be cool to see the names and signatures of everyone involved.
Just my 2 cents!

Paul Don't forget YOUR signature is also REQUIRED.
Spoiler:
I disagree. These books are about the artists... not the people that make them. It would take away I thjnk

Insomnia #459
ANY S/L #459
The artists? As in Paul, the binder, the woodworker, the paper marblers, the illustrators, etc.?
Paul has been fortunate enough to gain the involvement of the original illustrators in his projects. While their contributions do help to make the end result special, they are not necessarily the main focus.
