My read of agreement is that risks are all with potential bidders/customers plus a requirement to cover a percentage of the bid up front. This coupled with lack of information on condition were my concerns.
These are all normal requirements procedures with Auctions like this.
Seller needs some assurance bidders are serious especially when handling a Charity Auction with items of value.
The fact there is NO BUYERS PREMIUM for this auction is highly unusual and benefits the Buyers as well as the Charity ( Matthew
Morrell / Natalie Sanchez Pediatric Cancer Research Fund) greatly.
I never quite understood the Buyers premium.

Most live auctions charge a BUYERS PREMIUM which is actually The Auctioneers cut of the auction.
The fact that the MatthewMorrell / Natalie Sanchez Pediatric Cancer Research Fund auction does not have a BUYERS PREMIUM means bidders do not pay an additional fee to auctioneer and Charity benefits.
We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

Gerald is doing this for charity so maybe that is why he is not doing that? So all the money goes right back to the cancer foundation.
Also, I want to bid on some things and to be safe and avoid anything (surprises) I asked for pics of the stuff I was interested in. Nothing yet from Gerald but hoping to see something in the next few days. I have my eye on IT goodies

I wonder why he posted a picture of the IT collection with that announcement. Suppose it could just have been the most logical choice for that update, but it seemed strange to me. Kind of like “hey guys, guess what you won’t be getting today!” Not judging him by any means, strictly just made the cynic in me curious. And I hope all is well with Gerald or David Morrell.

David Morrel tweeted about the cancellation:

"Bev, some SK collectors conspired, promising each other to bid low and then resell at a high price. We cancelled the physical auction that included every item. Now each item will be auctioned separately via phone and email, with a minimum bid required."
https://twitter.com/_DavidMorrell/st...05092262436864
"The auction will be rescheduled soon. It will be strictly online and via phone, with a few items being offered at a time and a couple of days per item so that bidders don't feel rushed. This way everyone has a fair chance."

Interesting. I wonder how a "conspiracy" was determined.
Wow. Who done it?

The Houston Astros cheated Major League Baseball from 2017-18!!!! Is that how we teach our kids to play the game now?????
And why would it matter if so? Let’s say a few collectors tried to do so.... what about the other collectors that didn’t know the few that were “conspiring” and put their own bids in. They would want the item and bid accordingly to secure said item... thus rendering the low bids irrelevant. I just don’t see how that would matter in the grand scheme of things.

I'd be keen to know what the evidence looks like to conclude a conspiracy (and how one could come across such evidence)?
Am I missing something, but wouldn't the "conspiracy" have to involve every single collector who was going to bid high? That would be quite a Jason Bourne level operation. All you need is one serous and cashed-up collector to not be a part of the conspiracy, and the conspiracy falls down.
Drama after drama at the Winters bricks and mortar.
This is just stupidity.
A conspiracy to keep prices low, even if it existed, isn't logistical. Or for that matter logical.
Why lie about it?
I suspect that a large number of people who might have bid won't bother now.
I certainly don't care anymore.
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
First off, my question only asked how it was determined there was a "conspiracy".
But since you asked the question ..."why would it matter if so?". I'll try and answer that. The reason why it could matter is that it might be a violation of The Sherman Act-which makes it illegal to restrain trade.
I'm not an attorney, and I don't really even care about the auction(s), and I'd be surprised if something as esoteric as this makes sense to you, but rest assured that in a few high profile cases, people (bidders, not the seller) have been charged, and convicted of rigging auctions.
