Do you have approx dates for those sales Alan? that seems on the low side to me for fine DJ's.

This book is VERY susceptible to spine fade and it's not always noticeable until you put it against a really fine copy. I would expect nearer $400-500 for a truly fine copy.

(I appreciate Brian's original question was about a NF DJ - just clarifying that NF can mean "Nicely Faded" for this book )
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Beautiful copy you have in that comparison Simon, the yellow glow around The Shining is so prominent in one, and nearly invisible in the other.

I think all sales were this year. I'm sure David would give you a proper answer. (I don't give opinions, I just report the last Betts sales prices.)

Ok, Thanks Alan. IMHO someone got a great deal with that 2nd Betts sale.

For reasons I would rather not publish online, I am needing to sell some of my collection. I figured I would start with my proofs. I don't ever expect to own every proof, so I would rather just not continue down that path. I would like to hear what each of these is currently going for. Most are NF or better. A couple have been read. I will note which ones are not NF or better. Once I get an idea of value I will put them up on the for sale thread.

IT - Cemetery Dance (red cover variant)
    The Dark Tower Companion
The Bazaar of Bad Dreams - not quite NF
    The Big Book of Necon
The Illustrated Stephen King Trivia Book
The Illustrated Stephen King Movie Trivia Book
    Turn Down the Lights
    Blockade Billy - CD
    From a Buick 8
    Thinner - not perfect
    Nightmares and Dreamscapes
    Insomnia
    Desperation - first state
    The Regulators

I can only comment on the proofs that I own or used to own myself (and I basically restricted myself to proofs from the 1980s and early 1990s with a few exceptions). I'm assuming VG+/NF condition for my estimates except where you noted otherwise.

IT - Cemetery Dance (red cover variant)
    The Dark Tower Companion
The Bazaar of Bad Dreams - not quite NF
The Big Book of Necon - $50
The Illustrated Stephen King Trivia Book
The Illustrated Stephen King Movie Trivia Book
    Turn Down the Lights
Blockade Billy - CD - is this the one with the trade edition cover or the scarce one with the white cover?
    From a Buick 8 - $60
    Thinner - not perfect - $45
    Nightmares and Dreamscapes - $100
    Insomnia - $90
    Desperation - first state
    The Regulators
    Rose Madder - $20
    Lisey's Story - $20
    On Writing - $25
    Bag of Bones - $25
    Hearts in Atlantis - $25
    In Sunlight or in Shadow

I may be off a bit because it's years ago that I bought some of these and I'm not keeping track of recent sales but I think these are somewhat reasonable estimates.

What would be a reasonable offer for this 1st edition of DT1? Is $550 a good price?
