Hi RT. I'm guessing that was just a great one off purchase however and not typical of its current value?

Looking back at my records, I paid £72 for mine. Exchange rates have fluctuated since, but It was probably about $100-110

EDIT: Sorry, Ignore that, realised you were talking about flat-signed. Mine is the UK S/L

And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Interesting that it has a dedication. The signing I attended in London for Bag of Bones was signature only, no dedications if I remember correctly.

Have a crazy little piece of info here... wanna check my fellow collectors thoughts on the issue. SO, I know of 2 Lettered IT's that changed hands early this year at $3450 and $3750. This is FACT. I am not going to say if they are members or not but rest assured this is fact. I just got an email this morning with a friend of mine who is a great chap (not a member but has "lurked" a bit) and is really starting to get the collecting bug and has been collecting for about 2 years. He is making friends in the King world and told me about a friend of his. We both love IT and he has been after my IT cover original piece for about a year now so we chat about IT... A LOT. He just told me one of his other collector friends bought a Lettered IT in F/F/F for $4450!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT remarqued either. I asked. I asked if the person was a member and where they bought the book from but as of this writing he has not gotten back to me. IF I am allowed I will share whatever more info I get as I find this incredible. Is this book pushing the same territory as a Lettered Regulators???????? Is it?? Just wanted to hear some feedback from others... thanks!!

Even the lower price is surprising. I have to admit it's one of my favourite lettereds and being one of the more desirable King titles, I am very pleased. I would sell mine for $4450+!

That is crazy to see the current value but not super surprising given the popularity of the book and how quick the S/L copies sell. I was offered a lettered copy for $3800 last year but couldn't make it work at that time but now I'm kicking myself. Oh well, at least I know now to jump on it if I see one come available.

I see this as pricing wise in line as a lettered Green Mile. Issue price was $2500. Current value is closer to $4500, IMO.

As the discussion has strayed towards prices of lettered editions, I find it interesting that there is a belief of an estimate on such books.
Surely the price is driven by a persons desire to own one thereby negating an estimate or fixed price.
Two lettered copies I would like to own are The Green Mile and The Regulators. As far as I am concerned there is no figure in mind, only what someone asks now knowing that I want them.
Now if that is not talking up the price of books I don't know what is!!

Why not share some thoughts on the matter Alan? I would be interested to hear your true thoughts which i asked for.... Not this silly response.

EDIT: I am reaching out to the CONFIRMED sales to see if they if they will chime in Alan. Perhaps then instead of your "lovely comments" you could join the conversation constructively

For what it's worth, I was offered $5,500 for my Lettered copy that includes color remarques by Orbik (RIP), Clark and Wells. I declined......

It's not the conversation that driving up the value, it's reality. So, thanks to the BUYERS on the open market.

WOW. Thanks for the input Tim. I have been offered $5500 for my original cover by Robert Guisti. And I can tell you I am not interested in selling my lettered IT even for $4450. I agree IT was a fan fav and will keep going up. Maybe the price I was told is not too out to lunch. I mean both your pieces have original artwork by a deceased artist! I think Robert G is still alive but in his 90's! Crazyness

I thought the idea of this thread IS TO DISCUSS value? Yes? No?

So please tell me what Kris said wrong? I personally am finding the value of IT discussion very interesting.

It's comments like above in quotes that has kept me from posting on DT (I've become more of a lurker member).

Neither you nor they are wrong. It'd be silly to say that prices don't go up because members don't talk them up though. I know a few times I've actually made comments to my wife about some book I bought for $n which now apparently sells for twice that much. And it's all because someone here said they wouldn't sell it for less than $______ (insert amount).

Value is based on the most recent comparable sold price (not just asking price of things that never sells, or some numbers in the clouds). Maybe a one-off sale might not determined value as in a S/L SLOE that sold for $800, a member pointed out that the possibility of a matching number which would certainly makes sense for the selling price of that S/L SLOE. But the fact is the lettered Green Mile has sold a few times in the last year or so for between $4K-$4.5K. So that's that, whether you like it or not.
