I suppose the traycase is worth a bit more than the slipcase.
I suppose the traycase is worth a bit more than the slipcase.
I held out for a LONG time to get the traycase. I JUST bought it off Foster. He, as me, held out when he was looking till he could get the tray case for it. Because of this I hold a lot of value in those cases. I would not want one with out it.... I paid $700 with the traycase and am VERY happy with that. David sold one is seconds this summer for $750 with the traycase. As we all know demand creates value... thus why i feel the traycase and or slipcase adds value. MOre so the traycase though....

Here we go....1st/1st FINE Flatsigned IT.
I have other pics of the book to verify condition, pic of SIG below.
If the true 1st/1st book and DJ are in NF/Fine condition I'd venture $1.1k. It would be quite a bit more if "IT" was not a recent King signature (I fully endorse the signature).
Beautiful Sig... I guess $800-$900...

Oooo....as I have a 1st/1st flatsigned IT, seeing this put me a VERY good mood! Also makes the money I spent on the Dolso case for IT all the more worthwhile!
Hi, all. Is there a value difference between the 1st state Pet Sematary DJ and the 2nd state? Assuming both are true 1st/1st and NF/NF. Thanks!
I wouldn't think so. Condition is the big factor--that dust jacket shows wear very easily.
John
Thanks, John! Now, for my collection (addiction), I'll need the 2nd state and another slipcase in which to house it :-/.
Exactly like that, Z! And I'm also going to need the UK Different Seasons and Pet Sematary. Have the ITs down below there. I'm curious as to what The Eyes of the Dragon editions you have there. Care to enlighten me? . Also I'm fanboying on your shelves there. Did you just build those right along the wall in said room?

What's up Brian... Believe me, I've also 'fanboyed' on many a shelf I've seen in the collection threads here. Those are some simple pine bookcases I used to have custom made. You can see some examples in my collection thread here.
The three EOTD books are the three different printer variants. You can learn more about those here. It's listed first under Printer Variants and it has a link to photos in Jon's collection.
Cheers,
Paul
Thanks, Paul! Great info.
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
IMO The Dead Zone is one of King's best stories and I like Easton Press quality standards. But in 1993 the LE should have been done by Grant. And made it signed and numbered. But it wasn't so we have this, a 1993 1500 LE... nine years later the bastards did another printing. What do they think limited edition means?
This is the 1993 edition has been inscribed by SK and illustrator Jill Bauman.
Also comes with a perfect matching Tomas 'The Collector' slipcase.
I picked a price of $895 and listed it on eBay. I have had an offer for $450 from a collector that thinks that is all it's worth. So half my estimate.
What would you sell this for?
Thanks, here is the link....

Just thinking out loud, so to speak, if you figure the book alone is worth $100 and King's signature adds a couple of hundred to a typical book then you are at $300. I'm not a fan of aftermarket slipcases but I suppose you could add $50 for that. Bauman's signature? I have no idea but I don't think it would be that difficult. She is very polite and responsive when contacted through her website. Maybe another $50 for her signature? Now you're at $400.
Is Marty someone significant? If so, you might try to play the "association copy" angle. If not (and if your name's not Marty) it probably won't increase the desirability to have a book inscribed to someone else. Also, it isn't a first edition. Even though it is by Easton Press it is still a reprint of the original story.
How did you come up with $895? I suspect it is because there just aren't many dual signed copies of this book around. I don't think I have ever seen one so, in that respect, it is very unusual and cool. Still, I don't think you will get that price for it.

Bob I came up with $895 because I thought it had a lot going for it. A 23 years old LE with two vintage signatures. And I am a huge fan of slipcases...better when they mark the spine (like this one) so they sit backwards in my bookcase like this one. We all know about fadied spines.
I am not a fan of inscriptions. My buyer says $450 is his max, seemed low too me, but I bow to the wisdom of many. On less that $650 was an offer LOL
