Hope everything is fine now. But if you guys can afford this, it's nice from your wife to offer that you treat yourself instead !

Go back to the hospital for four more nights. Then buy a 'Salem's Lot S/L.
    Loved it Jerome !

I would probably try and get a Talisman S/L. I think they are roughly around that price. Great looking set.

As much as I like Skeleton Crew as a book, I think Firestarter is the superior S/L. The cover art is better and it's King's first limited. A must have for anyone collecting King limiteds, IMO.

I sent my house insurance company a database of my books with their value. There was also a large amount for postage, as most of them are not available in UK. It only costs extra when individual items go over £5,000. I also sent them a video of my books to prove I actually owned them. This can be updated yearly.
Thank you both - much appreciated
No problem Simon. Seeing what Alan wrote about sending a video of the books to the insurance. My record of my collection is my DT.org collection thread as well as a database of my books with values.
Does the information that you send to the insurers include what you paid for the book, or just the market value?
I didn't have to send anything to the insurers. It is just insured as a collection to a maximum of £80K and not individual books. I assume this would differ between insurers. They did not put any limit on any one book, not that I have any book over £5K!
Just being curious : may I ask what is the cost of this insurance where books are valued for up to £80K?
I can't remember the exact figure, I think it added about £100 to be house insurance premium.

The broker said they were low risk items. Not really what would be stolen if someone broke in. Generally electricals and jewelry etc. I was also surprised at the low premium.

Yes, that's what my insurance company said. No burgler is going to take heavy books before cash or jewelry.

You can pick them up for < £10 if you are patient

Ah thank you. Had a chance to grab a second copy for about £25 and was thinking someone in the U.S. May want it, but sounds as though they can get them cheaper. Cheers ears.

It's a heavy book, shipped together may make it an overall saving for a U S buyer (assuming the book is coming from the UK)

Hey guys, just looking to stimulate some convo. I noticed that David sold a Carrie Lettered for $5k. I think they were $4k when released (US funds)... so are you guys surprised at that? I have to say, I am a bit. The other thing he sold I found a little shocking was the artist set of DT books. I just built one in F/F with a few remarques. I have a Whelan remarqued Gunslinger (just the KA symbol), Dameron and McKeen remarques as well. But all 1st's and artist signed. I pegged my set at $2500'ish. David sold his for $3350! Thoughts on this guys?

The Waste Lands in the Betts set is a PC copy of the S/L edition. Phil Hale "remarque" (looks like a sketch to me) adds value too.

I bet if the Carrie buyer was from the US, $4999 is probably less than what it would've cost direct from PS after custom$$$. That's just a guess though, I don't own a lettered Carrie.

The Hale remarque would be a lower value than Mckean or Lee....

I think that particular set is a bit disjointed with the inclusion of the PC S/L. I'm also trying to create an AE (signed not remarqued) set and I would only expect to have 1sts of I - IV and AE's of V-VII plus LSOE and WTTKH. Each to their own however.

TOTALLY agree. Having the S/L ruined it for me. I think he would have been better to use a remarque Dameron that he is selling in that same upload and sell that differently. The only reason I have a remarque in mine is cause I could NOT find a Mckean signed only... very rare. And the other two were gifts (the remarques). Do you feel a true artist set is about $2500 Simon or would you peg it higher? What about you Alan?

    DT1 Signed by Whelan - $800
DT II Signed by Hale - $80
    DT III Signed by Dameron - $100 - $120
DT IV Signed by McKean - $200 - $250 (that maybe low as he rarely signs)
DTV - DTVI AE Edition $150 each
    DT VII AE Edition $60
    WTTKH AE - $100
    LSOE AE - $225

    Total: $1,905 - $1935

Of course selling as a complete set may add a small premium, but def less than $2500 (IMHO)

I edited my original estimate after a brief search - it seems DT VII AE's can be picked up pretty cheap.
