What would be a fair price for a Carrie 1/1 in F/F condition? I have a lead on one but not sure what to offer.

$750-$850.

You could certainly offer that but if I was the seller I wouldn't accept it. I think a truly F/F copy is well north of $1000.

I stand corrected. I consulted a well known seller and was told retail would be $1.4K+

Well with that I am understanding I should really take the offer he sent me... Now I am really excited.
Hopefully it will have a new home soon enough!

I bought mine a year ago for $700 Fine Fine copy, then i got SK to sign it! Two weeks ago i bought a copy of House Next Door $300, Signatures $200 and something else signed $200, looking for the vendor now in my emails. He said that the SK books do not sell like they used to. Just his opinion.

this is totally confusing, what if you loose it ?
The finder will think its Stephens, you should write your name in it so that he knows that its yours.

I sold one a few years back for much more....the book and dj were exceptional. Maybe the best copy of 40 when brand new. The book would scream in pain when trying to open it...A truly remarkable copy. The buyer was delighted to see and then own such a prize.

I've been out of the game for a while and I can't seem to remember if the Doubleday anchor on the spine is a good/great indicator of the book/dustjacket being a first edition, any help would be appreciated, thank you.

No, those are the reprints.

At first, I was like "How does he know!?" But then I remembered ... the SIZE, duhhhhhhhh. It's so funny how many things you used to know like the back of your hand, only to forget later. And vice versa, the things we didn't even know we took notice of, creeping up into the forefront of our minds much later on.

I actually didn't even think about the size (but you are 100% correct!). AFAIK, the reprints of the first four books started having the anchor on the spine when they were reissued to celebrate the 1st printing of the Stand Uncut in the early 1990s.

*edit: come to think of it, I don't believe Night Shift reprints from that era have an anchor logo on the spine.

I believe the only Doubleday true 1st edition with an anchor on the spine is "The Stand Uncut".

I don't think I paid more than $20 for any of the books in the set (plus that much for international shipping, I'm sure you can relate).
