"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
If it doesn't have the correct gutter code, I don't believe it's of much value.
$100 if the binding "moves you".
For a correct gutter code-$200+ if it "moves you".
It does nothing for me since The Stand is readily available. If it were a book that was hard to find, it would be more interesting. Different strokes for different folks.
I like it. But I tend to really like rebound books in general. I've been watching this one on eBay and was close to going for it but held off. Looks like it's ended, so hopefully you got it Simon.
EDIT: I'm getting PM's to buy the things I'm asking for valuation on, but I don't know what they are worth to know if I want to sell them yet. Hold your little horsies!
Hi Everyone! Been forever since I've logged in. Trying to save for a wedding...MINE!....so I'm cleaning out some items I have maybe. Can I get ballpark pricing on these?
Everything mint/new (except Knowing Darkness slipcase)
Great Ghost Stories - .........Lettered Edition in crazy red lettered edition traycase (PC copy)
3 PS Colorado Kids books in Slipcase ....... (Each artist did a sweet Remarque on their version of the book - Letter "0" - 1 of 26 sets)
Knowing Darkness - (Slipcase huge version and top of slipcase is a bit damaged...doesn't hurt anything) <---EVERY KING FAN SHOULD OWN A VERSION OF THIS BOOK..even a cheap smaller version. Amazing stuff.
Bernie Wrightson signed Creepshow
Whispers #165
Under the Dome (US) -- S/L w/ Print Error, but error was doubling up on the Stephen King signature page so there is a 2nd page with King's signature, but the page doesn't quite go to edge where you turn pages. Cant tell with book closed anything is different, but this book goes "eleven" with an extra page! haha!
11/22/63 ....1 of 70 proof version (I never have seen it sold, so I check here time to time)
Bonus Market Value Questions!!!:
Joe Hill: Locke and Key #6 "Ghost Key" or maybe it's #5. (figure someone might know...think this is a rarer key?)
Joe Hill: Pop Art (s/l chap book size book) #138
edit: see the below ones on Ebay, so can ballpark myself i think.
Salem's Lot....................... (Huge version - no signature so I think this is the 1 of 600 one?) Checked Ebay and I guess if there are only 2 versions, then Ebay pricing is a good ballprk
Under the Dome - S/L (US Version)
Under the Dome - S/L (UK Version) (numbers 339, 456, and I was going to keep 14, but maybe i'd sell it)
Matching Set of Colorado Kid PS edition (1 of 333 I think each?) with slipcase

Needful and stroppy, these copies are exactly what I'm on about. They are not Fine. Both have defects.

That's certainly the best looking one I've ever seen.
Opinions?
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
The signature is good, however I'm having doubts he wrote the inscription. Take a close look at the comma after best wishes, it's ON TOP of Kings signature, not under it. It almost looks like a different pen used.
Mulleins
I'm the caretaker of Room 217..............I've always been the caretaker of Room 217
I noticed a slightly different quality of the ink as well between the signature and the inscription.
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
That is insightful! At first, I thought that was analyzing too much b/c the signature does look spot on to me, but you have me double checking it over and over now. lol!
The "e's look like they match but "e's" are super easy. The "t" is looped in the inscription, but he doesn't loop his "t's" in his signature, so would probably not change that on a regular basis ever. Any letter in signature should be VERY similar to any letter in inscription i'm thinking, right?
The "i's" are dotted directly above on inscription and always seem to be pushed to the right on signature, but I think that is just speed of doing signature.
The "s's" match and the "h's" match though pretty darn close.
I think I'm leaning towards legit (if the pen ink and all that matches between both).
Caveat: I'm no expert!
I think it's legit
