I posted a listing that came up on ABE the other day. It didn't generate much (any) discussion.....just derision, IIRC. Here is the listing. I think they have lowered the asking price by quite a bit.

The seller did lower the price. Price at time of discussion.....$1000. Now lowered to $500. Not many of these signed, so $500 in my opinion isn't bad. If you can score a Van Allsburg signature during his tour to accompany the King signatures , could make for a fine collectible.

Thanks for the mission! I now must find Van Allsburg! He lives in Rhode Island and will probably never come to St Louis! I will keep you posted.

I saw your post but did not make any comment. I though if someone bought one of these for $1000, they must be off their head. Even at $500 it is still to much for a King signature.

If you are selling, better do it quick as this will be available under issue price very soon.

Just guessing here, and not speaking for anyone, but I think that recent lettered's haven't held their value too long?
Hard to think why anyone would sell a book this amazing for less than issue price though...

My gut feeling is this volume will not only hold its value but will increase in value. Of all the recent publications, this is easily the most revered / loved

My thoughts are purely based on economics. Some of the people who bought this edition for $2000 will have to sell it, because their financial circumstances have changed since they paid for it. It will sell for a good price right now, but next year IT will drop.

A lot of collectors have given up collecting King recently. You only have to look at the growing list of books for sale at Betts. This list never gets any shorter. More books are added than are sold.

    Hello all ,
    Does anyone know for sure:
    1) how many viking proofs of "IT" are in circulation?
    and also
    2) a value of a Carrie proof in vg+ condition?
    Thank you!

I'm not sure how many Viking It proofs were done, but I'd venture a guess that it's fewer than 200. Nothing behind that but pure "gut feel".

A Carrie proof in vg+ condition should go in the $500 range. Condition is very important here.

I agree with this. The type of people that were able buy IT in the first place aren't the types that are likely to run into money trouble. May we see one undersell due to low sell price or by an auction made by an inexperienced seller? Sure. But that would hardly set the market value in my mind.
The limited run, the popularity of the book, and the extremely good quality of production will probably keep the value up--just my humble opinion.

There are quite a few collectors on this site who have had to sell their collections due to money problems.

I'll take an UNOPENED lettered IT for under the original price. I tried to buy one when announced but was at work and wasn't in time for it. I'm kinda picky and when I see these books on Ebay or Abes opened all the way flat on the table so a picture can be taken of the signature or copyright page I shudder and don't bid or buy. Of course that's just me.

Not exactly sure where to post this... as it's only a partial "value" question. I'm planning to buy The Dark Tower The Little Sisters of Eluria, The Way Station, and The Battle of Tull. It seems the best price is Amazon, where I can get all three for $44.16. I've checked eBay and Abebooks. It isn't important that the book be wrapped, since I'll be opening it anyway. But I do want to be sure it's a first edition, first printing. Any other suggestions on where I might look?

Those are all comics, right? Did they even do multiple printings? Genuine question, I have no clue about the DT comics.

I'm looking at the hardcover editions, and I know the school library I work in has later printings... that is my only concern.
