    Default Great Music - Round 1: 1985-1989 (Group 8 of 16)

During the first round of The Great Music Tournament, please vote for up to five tracks you would like to move onto the next round. The top five tracks will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given track receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary (1985)

    Madonna - Express Yourself (1987)

    The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) (1988)

    Suzanne Vega - Undertow (1985)

    U2 - Red Hill Mining Town (1987)

    Baltimora - Tarzan Boy (1985)

Huey Lewis and The News - The Power of Love (1985)

I'm afraid Red Hill Mining Town won't go anywhere this round because it's not a very well-known U2 song, but it's my favorite U2 song.

Also, I'm not so sure Axl Rose didn't steal his moves from the lead singer from The Cult.

Well, I can't hear The Power of Love without thinking of this.

For the first time, I voted for two songs only.

It's no wonder I refused to listen to pop in the 80's.

Well T-Dog, we tried, but Red Hill Mining Town just didn't have a shot.
