    Default Great Music - Round 1: 1965-1969 (Group 1 of 16)

During the first round of The Great Music Tournament, please vote for up to five tracks you would like to move onto the next round. The top five tracks will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given track receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs - Li'l Red Riding Hood (1966)

The Monkees - The Last Train to Clarksville (1966)

    Aretha Franklin - Respect (1967)

Sly and The Family Stone - Everyday People (1968)

    The Beatles - Revolution (1968)

Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing (1967)

Johnny Cash - A Boy Named Sue (1969)

This is a great tough group and it's still sad to see "Li'l Red Riding Hood" and "Little Wing" outside looking in.

Why do the Monkees keep popping up? UGH.
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
