Thank you, Patrick. I ended up following your advice. The SP-edition is now in my book shelf, and the EP-edition is hopefully on its way in the mail headed for Norway.

That's my copy that I reluctantly sold awhile ago. The guy swore up and down about not reselling, just wanted the book, etc. nice to see he's just trying to flip it for more.

I'd let mine go for 1100 shipped with friends and family payment
Although I am not really buying as many proofs, couldn't pass this up for 10.00.
I have a limited edition RPO for sale $225.
Wanted to thank you all for this thread! I'm new to collecting and RPO is my first S/L... Looked all over for a slipcase and couldn't find one. Eventually found this thread, connected with Jeff, and one is on its way!
I don't know if this has been posted anywhere yet, but I see there's a trailer out for Ready Player One. Would like to hear some thoughts on it.
I think it looks pretty cool so far. Ultraman was replaced with The Iron Giant and Christine is visible at about 1:21. Excited to see it!
Not what I expected from what I remember of the book... May have to go and re-read it. I thought there would be more emphasis on the keys and story but it's more like "the world is shit and I play video games".
yeah I do not remember anything as "slick" as that car chase scene in the book - if the movie is hollywood and moves too fast - it'll miss all of the things that made the book a fun read.
Wanted:
Gunslinger s/l #344
Drawing of The Three s/l #344
“A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.” Wayne Gretzky
Movies gotta have a car chase I suppose.
Despite this, the majority of the trailer can be pretty much married to scenes in the book (Zero-G night club, towers of shipping crate homes, armies of sixers all jacking in to corporate OASIS headsets, Rush soundtrack, etc). It will be interesting how much gets 'tweaked' so that Joe public dont get 'confused' by the more obscure references such as Ultraman.
I'll be honest (and a little sacrilegious) I think I am looking forward to this more than the Dark Tower! The Eighties was very much my era.
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
They are going to destroy this movie - looks like crap from the trailer.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
I don't think Joe Public knows Iron Giant any better than Ultraman. I wonder if they couldn't get the rights for him. I'm really just hoping the challenges for each key match the book.
Looking forward to a VR experience promo!
