This is why I have a problem with Pennywise looking too 'scary'. In the original Pennywise's default mode wasn't threatening-looking at all (until it was too late) so you could buy him luring Georgie over. This guy looks like Count Orlok's bastard son.

I'm concerned that his voice will be bad like a lisp or something.
I did not know Tim Curry had a stroke so long ago.

This may sound weird, but as a reader of the book the, Curry "Cutsey" thing always threw me off. Yeah, I know he had to be a lovable clown to lure the kids, but of course I knew he was the ultimate beast. I have high hopes for this version and I think, Kris is right in that he will have a side in the film that could lure children. Of course, being that the TV version became a bit "Iconic" maybe folks will relate more as I did on the initial viewing. "We'll see" (said the Zen Master).................. lol

It still weirds me out seeing Olive Avenue in that one trailer and having seen the Neibolt St. house with my own two eyes.

I've never understood the whole thing about Pennywise being cute or enough to lure in kids. He always just scared kids because kids new there was something not right. Even during the part (moving photographs I think) where Pennywise is at the 4th of July parade, that all the kids started crying when Pennywise came near them. I don't recall one instance in the book where a kid is excited to see Pennywise. They might not quite understand Pennywise is evil right off, but they understand something is not quite right. Even when the kids understand he is evil, he still shows up primarily as Pennywise to them. The entire point is to scare its victims because it makes them taste better, like 'salting meat', in IT's own words. The clown is juxtaposed as something which both entertains and frightens kids, so kids who like clowns may not be initially afraid, but I never interpreted that disarming kids with a funny clown was IT's tactic.

Oh, I'm goin' slap happy! I'm goin' slap slap happy! Slappity slapping ya, teachin' ya a lesson for comin' in my house!

The quote "We'll see" (said the Zen Master), is from the movie Charlie Wilson's War (2007).

Gust Avrakotos: There's a little boy and on his 14th birthday he gets a horse... and everybody in the village says, "how wonderful. The boy got a horse" And the Zen master says, "we'll see." Two years later, the boy falls off the horse, breaks his leg, and everyone in the village says, "How terrible." And the Zen master says, "We'll see." Then, a war breaks out and all the young men have to go off and fight... except the boy can't cause his legs all messed up. and everybody in the village says, "How wonderful."

Charlie Wilson: Now the Zen master says, "We'll see."
