How old are those Grady twins now?

Is it accurate to describe them as "twins"? That's how I think of them, but aren't the Grady girls described early in the movie as having different ages? They are also slightly different heights in the movie.

iin the book and the script they're sisters but In the film's dialogue, Mr. Ullman identifies them as "about eight and ten". Nonetheless, they are frequently referred to in discussions about the film as "the Grady twins".
