The Houston Astros cheated Major League Baseball from 2017-18!!!! Is that how we teach our kids to play the game now?????
Debating can still be done in a civilized manner, participants just have to learn to curb their condescension.

The Foundation Trilogy spans 500 years.
Here is what we're talking about:
Novels nominated with series credentials:
Dark Tower
Da Vinci Code
Dragonriders of Pern
Dune
Foundation trilogy
Harry Potter
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Interview With The Vampire
Lord of the Rings
Out of the Silent Planet
Silence of the Lambs
Song of Ice and Fire
Nominated novels possessing sequels:
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Old Yeller
Shining
Nominated novels suspected of series status:
Ender's Game
Rabbit series
Series nominated, currently in suspension:
Chronicles of Narnia
Earthsea Quartet
Hunger Games
Sword of Truth
It would be a shame to have to disqualify all these great books. Series's existence has pros and cons for voters; I think non-series novels can still compete if we also allow all series to enter a novel. We ought to consolidate as many as possible, (for example, count Silmarillion as part of LotR) so that they don't compete with themselves, take up more slots, and throw things off further for all the list.
However, a separation into two contests is not out of the question to me, if many support it and Jean is willing to take added work.
I just don't personally endorse trying to re-categorize the banned list with theoretical information. Are there other ideas on how to be fair and accurate?
I still might have missed some among other noms.
Wouldn't The Da Vinci Code be a sequel to Angels and Demons, Langdon's first adventure (a much better book if you ask me).
The Dan Brown books are not a series in the sense that The Dark Tower is or Harry Potter. They're self-contained novels that happen to feature the same character.
Nominating NOS4A2 by Joe Hill.

Leatherstocking James Fenimore Cooper
Second Jane Eyre, East of Eden, Rosemary's Baby, Crime and Punishment, Strangers on a Train, Bonfire of the Vanities, Robinson Crusoe, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Red Badge of Courage, Gone with the Wind, Les Misérables, Great Expectations
I will add one to Rosemary's Baby, having just finished it last week.
If I haven't already voted for Crime and Punishment, I'd like to add one to its tally.
If we're going to have a Cooper novel, then I nominate last of the Mohicans. Just wish I read French.
I also move that as soon as the resolution with the series/ novel discussion is made that we move on to voting.
Sloth Love Chunk
Nominate THE SUN ALSO RISES by Ernest Hemingway.
Like Counter Culture Shock on Facebook
I vehemently add a - 1 to the sun also rises. There are a lot of Hemingway to suggest besides that one. For whom the bell tolls comes to mind.
Sloth Love Chunk
Seconding Leatherstocking and The Last Of The Mohicans.
(Funny that just the other day I also thought about nominating one of Cooper's novels, but real life stuff intervened )
I'm currently debating with myself the definition of "Top 100". Are we choosing the most popular, most interesting, most thought-provoking, most touching, or what?
Reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of nominating Justine by marquis de Sade - not because it is fun or a pleasure to read, or leaves good memories, etc. but solely in the name of justice to the genre. However, I'm not sure it would be right to nominate something that I actually don't like.
If you are going through hell - keep going
Don't nominate something you don't like, just more evidence that the nomination phase is complete.
Sloth Love Chunk
We're trying to nominate 200 so that we can eliminate half. I think about half of the novels we have so far are not too good, really, so the plan makes sense.
Last of the Mohicans is a great novel. The rest of the series makes it even better.
