I hope so, Chris! Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Diana Gabaldon. She was one of the three ticketed speakers, and apparently sold out very fast! Plus that pesky work-thing wouldn't allow me to drive down on Thursday night.

Sure! It was called "You Are Released," and was about a flight from LA to Boston that is forced to take a slight detour due to a little "flash" in Guam that registered on the Richter scale. Joe did edit it to 20 minutes, so we didn't get it all, but the story jumps from Business class, to the cockpit, to Coach (he left Coach out of our part), reacting to the news. When it the flash happens, the plane is over North Dakota, where apparently they store some nifty little things just in case we are attacked. It was great - even my boyfriend liked the story.

He was terrific. His line was way longer than any of the other authors, and yet he signed multiple books for many of his fans and took a bunch of pictures. I REALLY wanted that picture, and was so glad he did that!

Thanks all! I apparently had my excited look on my face all day, although it is slightly different from my excited about seeing King look. I imagine it's something like this: I hope I get to see him again!!!

If I met Mr. King and told him I thought LISEY'S STORY sucked, what do you think he would say or do? Should I be ready to duck? Has anyone in your experience ever told him at one of these events they didn't particularly like one of his books? I would never do such a thing, I respect his immense talent and creativity way too much for that, but I'm still (morbidly, I guess), curious about what his reaction would be in a case like that.

I doubt (Stephen) King would take a swing at you. A lot would depend on the situation. If you were at an event and were supposed to ask a public question, but instead offered only your opinion, King would likely have a snappy retort ("I didn't write it to please you; but several hundred thousand people enjoyed it. Next question please"), and there went your 15 minutes of King fame.

It's a really interesting question that would be fun to specualte on, but I don't want to derail Dez's thread too much.

Actually, my boyfriend has told both King and now Hill that the doesn't read their books. He followed it up both times with how much he enjoyed their talks. He also told Joe that he will seek out the story that Joe read to us and he looks forward to reading it when published. It's funny, but they both had similar looks. It's like no one ever says that to them. They weren't rude, but that might be why my second Fireman doesn't have a doodle...

You have a super collection. I did not think King signed "older" books. I made it through about 15 pages and was really wowed. I will continue over time to finish up this thread. But you have quite the collection. One to be very proud of.

Have you been around a bunch of crazy Outlander fans?? It's probably a good thing you didn't get to go - LOL. She always has signed copies available at The Poisoned Pen. Maybe she will do a proper book tour with the Book 9. I got to see her when MOBY came out.

Are the OUTLANDER books comparable to the TV series? I watched the first four episodes of season one and that was enough for me.

Problem is, he's my book bitch - he's the one that carries around the stack of books at signings, the bags of books at book sales, and he drives me to all these things (I do enough of that for work - I HATE driving!), so he's kinda nice to have around. So long as he doesn't say a word about getting rid of books...

I've been lucky enough to go to "good" signings (at least good in my opinion). In Savannah around 5 years ago, we could get any book signed as long as I bought one there. And in Toronto about 3 years, same deal. It allowed me to get some of my favorite older books signed without any stalking.

I have a very good friend that loves Outlander, but I haven't watched or read the books. I heard the talk and signing were a bit nuts though! Of course, aren't we all crazy fans of one thing or another?!

Work is still slow, but eBay sales have picked up a little, so I bought something as soon as I made a little money. Naturally!

I have been regretting passing up on the S/L Books of Blood by Clive Barker for a long time. I even bought one of the signed prints from the 4th book to make me feel better. When Sub Press had the charity sale last week and I saw this on the list, I woke up early to place an order. I'm so pleased to finally have it!

And here is the signed print. Weird, but cool!

Nice one, Dez. I love Barker’s artwork on these. And how HEAVY is this set?! I have to keep my set on the bottom shelf of my bookshelves for fear of it warping them.

I think Barker's artwork is just so good on these too. I think that's what put me over the edge and made me start searching for a reasonably priced couple. And, YES, that damn set is heavy! I took it out of the box and I was like holy crap! I need to redo all my shelves so It's not on the bottom now, but it will be soon!

I will be honest. I have never read a Clive Barker story I liked. However, that set of books is very attractive.
