Actually, Paul, a friend of ours had back surgery and is unable to drive for 2 months. When he realized my boyfriend's motorcycle was stuck in Virginia, he offered us the use of his truck to go get it. Just so happens that on the way back to South Carolina from my father's house, there is an IKEA. My boyfriend looked at me the other day and said: When we stop at IKEA, why don't we replace the bookshelves in the living room with taller ones? (I currently have the ones that are 3 shelves in there). Didn't even have to ask! I think it's love.

Also courtesy of another DT.orger, darkdiscoveries, I picked up this copy of Christine in French that is totally creepy:

Both James and Jerome were great to work with and highly recommended!
Hey there - I was just going through your collection thread and saw this post for the first time. James (DarkDiscoveries) actually sold these items of mine for me a while back. Just wanted to let you know that the "print" above is actually an original sketch from work done in a HorrorFest convention program book. HorrorFest was a 1980's horror con held at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. Initially it was a Stephen King centered fan convention and then became a general horror convention shortly after and only ran for a few years.

Filling more of my Hill collection this week: Subterranean Press's Heart-Shaped Box. This is the 1st/2nd:

I also bought my first signed Clive Barker. It was an excellent price and I like the silver signature:

    Nice additions Dez.

I'm developing a bit of an obsession for the Bachman paperbacks - here's what looks like a nice copy (those remainder stamps are pretty common). Also, I think if you buy direct from these guys (online), they give 10% off...

The 3rd (Canadian) edition is a bit less desirable, but still a cool book.

    Time for some newish purchases.

One of my goals this long weekend was to get caught up on my Brodart covers. (Am I the only one who lets the books stack up instead of covering them as they arrive?) And naturally, rearranging of the shelves was then in order. Here is the new CD 'Salem's Lot gift, as well as the UK 11/22/63. The 11/22/63 came by way of Kris (webstar1000).

Also, nothing too spectacular, but I've been trying to work on my UK 1st and proof collection. I like to buy them when I can find them in the US, since postage is so pricey from the UK. By the way, I still curse those of you who encouraged this!

Lastly, I got a shipping notice from Cemetery Dance last week for PS Publishing's Something Wicked This Way Comes. Interestingly, a few days prior to receiving the notice, I had been debating whether to order that edition. I have absolutely no memory of ordering it. At all. I'm wondering if 37 is too early for dementia to set in...

Regardless, here it is! And I must say that I really like the Chadbourne art in it.

Thanks!! I know about the covering, Paul. But it's just such a production: clear off my desk and wipe it down, undress the book, drag out my huge roll of covers, cut the correct size.... Easier to let them stack up a bit. I do store them in the glass bookcases until they are covered though!

I bought the BB slipcase in my thread second hand, but I believe it came from Jeff Whitley in the UK. I have bought several other slipcases directly from him and he is great to work with! Have you seen the Aftermarket Slipcases thread HERE?

I really just thought: this is a signed, limited edition Bradbury, signed by everyone but him, obviously for good reasons. I know how people feel about Chadbourne, and half the time I would rather not see anymore of his work for awhile (that dude must never sleep!), but I really like his carnival pictures. Actually, in case you missed it, a page or 2 ago I posted an original pic he did from Joyland. Overall, it is a lovely book. If you are on the fence, just fall - you know you are going to anyway!

If I had to cut the Brodarts I would probably also let them stack up. Sounds like too much work. I get the finished sheets so you just put the jacket in and fold it.

I buy the pre-cut ones too and sometimes delay putting them on on newer books. But when dealing with older books (and the definition of older will vary from collector to collector) the first thing I do upon receipt is to take the dust jacket out of its protector and examine it. I learned this from Roy Robbins years ago. So often you will find undisclosed tape repairs, closed tears, etc. etc. etc. Much better to find them early than later.

That makes sense. If it comes with a cover on, I usually take it off and look at both the cover AND the DJ. I have seen some pretty cheap covers on DJ and I'd rather just replace it than chance that it isn't up to snuff.

Incidentally, what size of the pre-cut Brodarts do you guys buy? I feel like every book I buy is a different size.

I keep about four different sizes on hand. Would have to check the exact measurements but it's basically from small hardcovers like TGWLTG up to coffee table size books.

Makes sense. I have some BIG pre-cuts around here somewhere, but then I used the roll for everything else. Thanks for taking the time, boys!

Of course, who am I kidding? I said I wasn't getting The Shining CD Gift (I did); I said I wouldn't get the Clive Barker Scarlet Gospels S/L (I did); said I wouldn't get the PS Publishing editions (I have them all). Who am I kidding? Of course I'll get it. I might as well acknowledge - once an intrusive thought enters my mind, just buy the damn book and let the thought rest!

These product numbers were given to me when I first got the itch to collect, Dez from a mentor. Hope it's helpful. They are Just-A-Fold III from Brodart:

    10-590-001 8" tall
    10-592-002 9" tall
    10-590-033 10" Tall
    10-592-033 10" tall 2" longer
