I want to try to get 6. If we go to DC, we'll be staying with friends or family, so want to have extras to bring them as payment for lodging.

I think $40 is fine. Most places charge cover price of the book, which is close to $40. Sure, you can get it for $20 or less on Amazon, but Amazon has no element of fun to it.

If you are going to get 5 or more it would have made sense to spend the $25 for the one year membership so your purchase per book would be $35.... and you would have the member option of advance purchase.

Same here. My aunt who usually goes to King events with me was very interested in going, but had to back out.

I just bought a ticket for me and my hubby to attend. While I really hope to get a signed book, I'm really excited to see Mr. King in person. This will only rival the time I got to spend with Anne McCaffery at Dragon Con. What a great lady and writer. I got everything I brought with me signed and was even able to sit with her and chat. She also told me to send her an email with my address and she would send singed book plates for other books I had and she did do that

They usually let you, just not with flash, since it messes with SK's eyes.

I don't think that would increase your chances.

In the end, you have a 1/5 chance of getting a signed book.

If there are leftovers, statistically, 1/5 of them will be signed, and they will go back to the book store.

But the point is moot...it will sell out.
