Ok, for those who have had both: which is more ideal to have smothered in butter in the morning, the crumpet or the english muffin? Because it's amazed me how so few Americans other than Frasier Crane are even aware of what a crumpet is, but they know about the English muffin. No comparison whatsoever! Gotta be the crumpet every time!

Out of curiosity, because I can't believe I still never had one....when you toast the crumpet, does it get kinda crunchy/crispy? Or what's its final texture? Because that's how I prefer my English muffin, really. Needs to be a bit burnt on the edges, and soaked in melted butter.
Slightly, yeah. Really, after toasted, the outer layer should have turned crispy, on top at the very least. Then get that butter on asap so the soft inside just soaks it up. Heaven!
