You might like Roadwork, if you like the other early writing...took me a while to get into it but in the end it was a pretty cool journey.

I tend to agree with you though, technically you can get away with reading BH and Talisman out of order why do it if you don't have too?

I liked the way the authors transitioned Jack from young boy to grown man in the two books. I also thought the "groundwork" set in Talisman nicely segued to BH. But that's JMHO. Of course I read them as they came out so I didn't have a choice so to speak.

Jack Mort, thank you for the suggestion- I'll be sure to put that one near the top of my SK books.

Merlin, you're right! I should read BH this semester while the Talisman is still fresh in my mind.

I also forgot to include On Writing in my list. However, I view this book as in a league of its own and more valuable than the rest because of its practical value. So, maybe I subconsciously left this book out on purpose

You got it! It really took me a few years to enjoy some of those early works, but they're really strong character studies, like Long Walk and Rage, for example. It might not get a ton of love, but I'll even throw Running Man in there. One of the best quick reads I've had. And +1 for On Writing - I haven't gotten to it myself but it's definitely on my list!

I too read them as they came out. Talisman has a special place in my heart. I do like BH a lot too though.

I tried to start it a few months ago, but was so bored by the first chapter I put it down. Sorry Jean I'll try again at some point.

Well, if it's any consolation, it's not as bad as The Regulators.
