It's good, very good, but W&G is by far the best of the series.

I've always said I'm a Stephen King fan first and a dark Tower fan second, or rather, I guess, I'm just a Stephen King fan, and don't really make that delineation in his body of work, thus, for me, it's easy to view the Dark Tower novels as separate, but of course, related, entities, and, therefore, again, for me, The Drawing of the Three is one of King's best novels overall, while other Dark Tower novel all lag far behind, say sorry.

I really don't get the love for W&G. I call it "the one that isn't about the Dark Tower, and where Roland spends the entire time getting it on and being a baby, and has art that looks like it took three hours to throw together."

Great as a stand alone novel. Great as an installment in the Dark Tower series, and one of the most addicting novels I have ever read.

Best example of all those indefinable somethings that make fiction great? The Waste Lands!!!
But DofT is great entertainment, and when you think about "Strength of Plot," "Character Development," and "Quality of the Story's Ending" I must say, yes, A+, A+, and A+.
So OK, then -- for my IMO: it IS a topper... this round, anyway.

I always think of this one as the 80s Dark Tower novel...perhaps because a large portion takes place in Eddie's "when" and because it's a prime example of the velocity of King's 80s work.

As much as I loved the Gunslinger is was DoTT that really sucked me into the DT, and it was here that i developed a little crush on Eddie Dean
