Stopped by Benway to say goodbye (my dad may have saved the store with his frankness, though) and picked up Mark Pickerel's new album, Snake in the Radio. Steve produced, engineered, mixed, and played keyboards on it. And it was only $7!

I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we are reading doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for? - Franz Kafka
Mark was the drummer for The Screaming Trees, Nirvana, and others. His first band, The Dark Fantastic, made two albums that were released on my family's label (their second disc, Goodbye Crooked Scar is fantastic), and I listened to every Trees disc in Seattle. And Steve (Fisk) is a family friend, one of my personal friends, and an all around nice guy and technical wizard.

I really like that song "Hey There Delilah" by the Plain White T's. It's been stuck in my head for days now.

RATM is headlining for Vegoose in 2 weeks here. It's Vegas's equilivalent to Big Day Out. I remember y'all got Tool last year or the year before I think. It was the band's first live performance for 10,000 days.
Which btw, they have just announced that they will be doing a second leg of the tour starting next month.
Ya know, they get a lot of complaints because they only put out an album ever 5-6 years, but they are one of the few bands who don't sell out. They don't make crap and record it just to say they have 12 records. They really don't give a fuck about their fans, they make the music for themselves. They take breaks, do individual projects and when the itch hits all 4, they find themselves back together making sweet, sweet music.
One of the few bands I can that actually "grows" with each album. The Foo Fighters do too. Not a bad song on any of their records.
Such a rarity (and a sad one) when a band comes out with a cd in which you don't feel the urge to skip songs.
It's peanut butter jelly time!
I've been extremely let down with every Foo Fighters disc I've ever heard--to me, they're regressing.
[[ [[VVRSSNN] ]]] (I can't put all four brackets next to each other) and BOX arrived yesterday, so I bought them. I'll have to get Adam Forkner to sign BOX next time I see him in concert. And the Pipettes disc fucking rocks in the best '60s Spector girl group way.
