The READ magazine from 1978 with "Battleground" is pretty neat. I have not seen that one before. It looks like an abridged version of the story. I think that Justin Brooks' entry in his bibliography is incomplete (or missing entirely) on that one. I'll bet he would appreciate your help on that one.
It's in Justin's bibliography with further info that King wanted an unabridged version in a reprint of READ, instead of this version.

THE ONLY REASON I OWN THIS BOOK IS BECAUSE WHEN THE WIFE BOUGHT IT FOR ME IT HAD A GREAT LETTER S FOR STEPHEN. IF IT HAD BEEN R OR T THERE WOULD BE A BIG HOLE IN THE COLLECTION.
