I voted 5. This is my favorite Bachman book. From a reader's perspective I realize it might not be the best Bachman book, or the most exciting, but how George handled his life crashing in all around him was very moving. The idea of the "circuit breaker" in one's head that allows us to do things sortof parallel to our more logical, ordered lives...it brings to mind Billy Joel's song The Stranger--the part we keep hidden until it appears unexpectedly and kcks us right between the eyes.
At the end, the explosion was not all that great--no bigger than a walnut. That phrase was a kick to the gut, given what we know George has been going through.
A man grasping at the straws of sanity until all the straws are gone. Great story.

I read this book a long time ago, and remember almost nothing about it - either positively or negatively. Based on that, I would give it a 2.
However, since I have not yet voted, maybe I'll track down a copy and do a re-read before voting.

I hear, ROADWORK, and I think of the DOLAN'S CADILLAC storyline. I liked DOLAN'S quite a lot.

Sadly I am in the not read columnRead Rage (loved it), Running Man (loved also) and Long Walk (where is a movie for this? awesome story). Need to finish on the RB trail.
