Yeah, the premise looks really intriguing. I'm excited for it. I hope they make it more "horror" than the past few seasons. I would love something on par with season 1 where there was this mystery about it too.

I think they partly intended it to feel stupid just like those old slasher movies.

It is almost the exact plot of Friday the 13th, Part 2 with some elements of Halloween thrown in. Plus they are playing off all the 80s cheese popular now.

I didn't hate it. Like has been said, it seems to be an homage to early, cheaply made 80's slashers. There's definitely going to be some sort of twist because a ten episode slasher flick just won't work. For some reason, I am suspicious of Emma Roberts character....

I forgot this was premiering until last night so I haven't watched it yet. Nothing about the premise has gripped me yet, though. It can't possibly be worse than Cult, though.

I watched the premiere last night and wasn't very impressed. The 80s stuff seems like they're trying too hard, like a gimmick. I wasn't bored, but I wasn't completely excited either. It all just feels so familiar (to Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc.)...but maybe that's the point?

Just watched the first 2 episodes and I love it! Then again I am a sucker for 80s slasher flicks. I'm sure there will be some twists along the way.

I enjoyed the first episode and I was happy the season seemed like it was going to stick to being a straight forward slasher with no supernatural elements, a pitfall recent seasons have fallen into.

    So much for that.

I'm the only person who has posted in here in almost a month, so I'm assuming most people either bailed or are suffering through another supernatural, nonsensical season.

I'm still watching. It's a short season, afterall. I guess I find it more fascinating at the inability of this show to just tell a normal story. It's like they don't turst their writers to create something captivating without sprinkling in supernatural bullshit. It's a shame because this season showed a lot of potential.

I've been watching every week and still enjoying it. I really loved the slasher movie aspect but this last episode threw me for a loop. They seem to do this a lot in recent seasons, where its going one way and then halfway thru they completely flip it. And I've never really cared when they've done that.

I haven't watched the latest episode but so far I've enjoyed this season more than the last 3. Although I really miss not having more of the main cast from previous seasons.

I wondered how they were going to stretch the story out considering this type of story typically takes place over a single night. I figured they'd pad it with flashbacks but now we are up to the point where the sun has come up and the authorities have shown up.

I really hate the fact that it's impossible to tell who's still alive and who's a "ghost" on this show. Although I suppose that's been a thing they do since the first season.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

I've really liked this season. The big concert is taking place on Halloween so I wonder if we'll get any ghostly guest appearances.

There's a youtuber that does recaps for the episodes and she had the theory that time travel might come into play because it was such a prevalent theme in film during the 80s. I don't know how that would work but we all know this show can get bonkers sometimes. They've managed to get a lot of the details about the Night Stalker correct from his foot fetish to how his capture went down (minus the Mr. Jingles part). Even the woman that visits him in prison is accurate. He had hundreds of women sending him love letters including one woman that was on the jury (she sent him a cupcake on Valentine's Day that said "I Love You") that convicted him! He married one of them. Crazy!

Yup, I feel the same way. Since Season 3, though, AHS has been all about style over substance so I'm really not surprised anymore.

Me too. I watched the most recent one and wondered if I missed an episode because of the time jump and everything. I hate the way the recent seasons have been completely turned upside down halfway through, like you said. It was kind of cool and exciting in Roanoke, but now it just seems gimmicky, along with the 17 different years we visit via flashback each episode.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves of the show: even if a character is dead, they're not really dead. They always come back as a ghost, or brought back to life, or some other way. It's really cheap and cuts the dramatic stakes drastically. It's like they want the high stakes and body count, but aren't willing to part with the actors playing the characters. It worked in Murder House, but it's getting really old after Coven, Apocalypse, and 1984.

Sounds like tonight might be a flashback episode. Also, IMDB has Dylan McDermott and Lily Rabe listed as appearing.

So some things confuse me, why was the hitch-hiker ghost able to go beyond Camp Redwood and why did his ear remain missing when the other ghosts got their original forms back? Why is the Night-Stalker able to attend the Devil's Night party at Hotel Cortez if at the time he was being kept dead by the ghosts at Camp Redwood? How did Brooke know about Mr. Jingles' kid?

The opening paragraph of this article basically sums up my feelings towards this season.

Well, that sure was a whole thing. “AHS: 1984” is over now, though I’m not sure it would be accurate to say it “concluded.” It simply is done and there’s no more. It was certainly quite a ride, and I honestly don’t really understand any of it.

As I mentioned before, I didn't hate it as much as the previous 2 or 3 seasons but this show has gone downhill badly. They really need to be done with it.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
