You can block buyers but not sellers. Using Simon's search method works though. You can save the search in your favorite searches so you don't have to re-enter the information every time. I don't like it. There is the weird bump after the 'n' in Stephen and "King" looks off to me.

I think you are right Bob. The reason mainly being the love for the book, and the fact a 1st edition can be had for under $50 bucks. No one is going (or very few anyway) are going to drop $800 on a Gunslinger only to attempt to forge it. Same with the older Doubleday titles too. It is a dream of mine to get my F/F signed by him. The only flatsigned books I ever wanted was a Gunslinger and IT...

After finding I had two fakes I had a friend over and was telling him about the BS that is going on and that I no longer trust my judgment.
Before our chat he had never seen King's signature. I gave him a PB and a pen and without practice he did this. I thought a pretty good 1st attempt. I thought OMG if he practiced he could quit his day job LOL.
Today, I prefer the signed LE and am not interested in flat signed trade. I feel safer with the LE.

I was pretty excited to get my books signed in front of Stephen King! My copy of IT and the entire Gunslinger series were signed by him (in front of me!) along with 21 other older titles! Guaranteed Authentic! No worries about forgeries. My favorites!
Honestly, If you run your Pre buy sigs through carlosdetweiller , Randall Flagg, and David at Betts you will get some solid advise on real signatures. They will err on the right side. If they feel good about it, its worth buying. Dont lose out on a large part of King collecting. Just be smart and ask for help. Having a coffee and doing the signature search every morning was how I greeted the day.
Moving forward I will pick up signed copies that have documentation (photos or tickets). I get a 1986 iT won't come with that. I know Bob, RF and David have decades of experience and I would trust their feedback.
Buying the two fakes was like a knee to the crouch. I even had Jeff make me a slipcase for my DarkHalf. Grrrr
I am not sure where I want to expand my collection. I am on the hunt for a LE TCOTWW + Danse MacCabre. But for the time being I am chillin' with autographs.
Sorry you got stung, man. It happened to me in my early collecting days too. As has been said - the guys on here (Bob, Ralph, Jerome, David etc) will happily keep you right I'm sure. They've certainly done so for me.

Don't remember ever seeing the 'g' look like that.
