Not sure if you'll like it, it's a crime film centered in Los Angeles. Washington is stellar in it though, he won an Oscar for that role. If you don't mind the genre, I say give it a go. I personally love that film, I've watched it an ungodly amount of times and I never get tired of it.
I don't mind any genre. It's the making that I usually am unhappy with, especially the directing. I have no genre prejudice, other than being biased in favor of horrors (which I watch for the sake of entertainment, not any cinematic experience)
