"This is England, and this is England, and this is England."

Stephen Graham for his role as Combo alone.

To be honest feev, so am I. I think DiCaprio is an ok actor at best who has been lucky enough to star in great movies, but that's pretty much it. It's far from likely that Stephen Graham will make it out of this round, which is a shame, but not unexpected, but I would prefer anyone else to take 2nd place other than DiCaprio, frankly.

Please don't let DiCaprio beat out Robbins. Robbins is a great actor who just isn't as high profile as DiCaprio.

Tim Robbins is great but DiCaprio still has so many years ahead of him. Still can't believe he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I fail to see how he can star in so many great movies but he's not a reason why they are great. DiCaprio to me is a major selling point to a movie now. I'm very much looking forward to his portrayal as J. Edgar Hoover in Eastwoods new movie. He's also got the lead in the new Tarantino flick alongside Sam Jackson, Kevin Costner and Christoph Walz. I see great, great things coming from DiCaprio in the next few years.

In retrospect, DiCaprio has had a few noteworthy performances - I really liked him in The Departed and Inception - but I still feel that Robbins has the slight edge on him when the entirety of their respective filmographies are placed side by side.

You see, it may just be that i've only seen, what, 4 of his films, but he usually sticks with two modes of acting: looking serious while talking quietly, and going, "GOD, NO!!!!" over his dead wife (which seems to happen to his characters quite a bit). Whenever he's supposed to do tragic scenes, he's more likely to make me laugh than cry. Certainly I don't think he has half the talent that Stephen Graham has: his performance as Combo was both charasmatic and repulsive, to say the very, very least. You really look at all the tiny things he puts into his voice, the way his hands move, the emotions on his face, and it just makes me sad to think that he won't likely make it out of this round. DiCaprio? There's none of those subtleties there, at least, none that I've seen.

talking about filmographies, everyone seems to disregard Total Eclipse, which is the best Di Caprio film by far. Though The Beach is not all that bad, either; I'd rather see either of these among his "notable films" than The Titanic, which automatically makes bears want to vote for someone else - anyone else, in fact

I can't believe no one has talked about Blood Diamond yet. DiCaprio kicked ass in that.
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."

Well that all depends on what roles you've seen him in. His best work is as Howard Hughes in The Aviator, one of my all time favourite performances. You want to see subtleties watch that one.

You've only seen around 4 of his films? I think it is just that, then. Reasonable enough based on just the small sample I suspect you mean. It's not fair, IMHO, to say he was just lucky; he broke in very young, and at that point he was quite talented for his age. Now, whether he has best developed that potential is a separate question... let's just say that for sure he is not the greatest actor listed above.

I think you should see a few more of Leo's films before you totally pass judgement. Especially some of his earlier work where he shows a lot of range. Films like This Boy's Life and What's Eating Gilbert Grape come to mind. As far as some of his earlier work, I'm with Heather, I loved him in Revolutionary Road. I also think he was very underrated in Catch Me if You Can.

here's the deal with my boy Leo.

    This Boy's Life
    The Beach
    Gilbert Grape
    The Aviator
    Shutter Island
    Blood Diamond
    The Departed
    The Basketball Diaries
    Catch Me if You Can
    Revolutionary Road.

I for one am psyched to see him as J Edgar Hoover. He's no flash in any pan.

I voted Di Caprio particularly for Gilbert Grape and Basketball Diaries. These are NOT easy roles to fill and he nailed it.
