I would have voted for her, but this is an unfortunate bracket

bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That it is. I know she doesn't stand a chance against some of those heavyweights. But I couldn't let her leave without a vote.

No offense taken! I found it to be an entertaining movie, but anywhere near the brilliance of the BBC adaptation? Hell no! I do like RDJ, but amid this crowd, it was hardly even an option to vote for him! And we can only vote once, so...
I voted for Jack Nicholson.

I cry for Robert Downey, Jr. but he would be my 3rd on these 5 also.
He did rock Charlie Chapman and others...

I voted RDJ because I think he's better at becoming his role. I love Nicholson and Caine, but they are always themselves.
I've never under understood the whole 'nicholson just plays himself' thing. It's as if everyone knows him personally
He must be damned good at playing himself with 3 oscars and 10 nominations total. That's why I love his performance in About Schmidt so much, it was such a departure for him.

Oddly, I was going to elaborate on that statement...but then I couldn't be arsed
I don't mean it as a criticism of their acting abilities, part of it is their very distinctive voices and mannerisms, but I never feel (even in About Schmidt which I loved) that he (Nicholson) has beome someone else, he is always that persona that we know as Jack Nicholson. Same with Caine, he's never become another person entirely, they're just telling different stories.
They're not the only actors I feel that way about, but they stand out because they're so recognisable. I like an actor to be able to change their voice, demeanour...whatever is necessary to convincingly "become" someone else.
Well that's what makes method actors stand out so much. Of course some method actors (Cuba Gooding Jr) tend to just fail. What makes Nicholsons performances great is the subtlties that is beyond merely changing an appearance or a voice. I think some actors (Johnny Depp) tend to hide behind weird characters so their flaws as an actor aren't as easily ready. Nicholson is one of those guys who has so much nuance and demeanor when he plays a character. It's all i his eyes or his expression or his tone of voice and the energy he brings to the screen. And this reminds me for some reason of this video I'd like to share!
