Zippo lighter fluid worked perfectly. I tested it on a "reader book" first. Even with excessive fluid on the DJ, it didn't have any effect on it. No odor either. A few Q-tips, tweezers, a fingernail and about 20 tedious minutes resulted in perfection.

I have my first editions arranged chronologically and will be adding the Bachman Book hardcover. Where does this fit in? You all understand that OCD feeling right?

The Bachman Books should be after Skeleton Crew and before IT.

You might want to squeeze in a COTW 1st PB after Skeleton Crew, but before Bachman Books hardback...

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

I was looking for some insight as to how good of a deal this turned out to be. I know it's hard to tell without actually having them in-hand, but I'm hoping I did the right thing. The lot ended up at just over $450 after shipping.

Yeah, if those were firsts it would have made the auction substantially higher.

You'll have to wait and see what you get. If most of them are firsts, you didn't do badly and gained a hell of a collection in one fell swoop. If it's mostly later editions, then you paid too much for reading copies.

I guess it all depends on your objective for this purchase, if you are just looking to get a bunch of reading copies, its not bad at only $8.50 a book. Some I think are 1/1, so they maybe be in the $10-$30. (well you may need to see the cover to make sure they are not BCE)

I thought it was a good deal, ending at $236 (after fees). Then it was sent to the shipper and that was another $230! I guess I'll know what I'm stuck with when they get here next week. If worst comes to worst, I'll put them up locally and try to make my money back.

I don't think they're BCE's because they all appear larger. I've got a Pet Sematary BCE and it's much smaller than Wastelands paperback.

Well, there's a lesson for you. I always make sure of the final fees prior to bidding on online auctions. Auctions will at least have the price, the buyers premium/auctioneer's fee and the shipping. Sometimes there are other fees, or you can only use a certain shipper, etc.. Multiple items are often very expensive to ship.

Still, you have some nice books coming. Even if they are all later printings, they are worth what you paid. I think you'll find some firsts in there and be okay in the end.

It was a small brain fart, not factoring in realistic shipping costs. But I am looking forward to filling some shelves. I don't have the Viking Dark Tower books and II-IV aren't all that cheap. I think I'll be pleased.

As many of you know... I strived to get every S/L even the obscure ones like Duddits. After looking through the all the thoughts of others (and asked a few friends) I am starting to think the 1/25 King/Joe signed Road Rage with the numbered Key.... is a true blue signed limited. I am now thinking that this little book should be part of the catalogue BUT wanted others thoughts too. Thoughts?
