I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...

Can someone confirm to me that the S/L COTW has an identical Dust Jacket to the Trade copy ?
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King

Always confirm there is no fade to the spine.
How common is spine separation in a first edition of The Stand? How much does it impact value?

Very common. Doesn't detract from value, however a copy that has a fine spine would command more.
BTW, I think a good book binder could re-glue the book spine.

Sloppy glue applying, and the tape at the end is bizarre.
I'm sure someone like Paul would know, but it's my understanding that for a case bound book, the textblock is attached to the case by gluing the endpaper and reinforcing cloth (super) to the boards. The spine inlay is not glued to the spine lining of the textblock. This creates a hollow that allows the binding to flex and open easily. The hinge area (called the joint on the outside of the case) takes most of the strain of use.
