I guess it all comes down to a simple choice for me. "Get Busy Living, or Get Busy Dying".
Ouch. That's a bummer for a seller.
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Sorry about that Dave. The plastic Slipcover he refers too is the Mylar cover for the DJ. I'm pretty sure it's as issued with the orignal Slipcase. I think it's a good deal at 3K and had actually bought it when a more serious need for the $$ came up. I have not done businees with him in the past but he seemed like a decent guy when we spoke. Good luck Buddy.

Weird Tales No. 301 (Summer 1991) containing "It Grows on You".
According to Justin's book, there was a hardcover limited edition of this signed by King.
Is this true?
(I know about the Whispers version)
Yeah, a lot of those later issues of Weird Tales (from the #280's on) were also issued as a hardcover. I don't think I own any. They were not signed or anything, though, if I remember correctly.

There is a hardcover limited edition, although not signed by King. It's limited to 105 copies, signed by Ramsey campbell, Bob Walters, George Scithers and Darrell schweitzer.
There are at least two different hardcover editions of the King appearances in Weird Tales #298 and #301. One with blue boards and one with red boards. None are signed by King.
Weird Tales #298, Fall 1990, with King's "The Glass Floor" has 200 numbered copies in blue signed by four authors/editors and 30 lettered copies in red signed by the same four.
Weird Tales #301, Summer 1991, with King's "It Grows On You" has 105 numbered copies in blue signed by four authors/editors and 43 lettered copies in red signed by the same four.
Thanks for that info Bob. It confirms what I believed. King did not sign Weird Tales No. 301.
The entry in Justin Brook's bibliography is incorrect.
Thanks for posting the pictures Bob. I might get these and ditch my softcover versions.
Greg- I decided to pass on the deal. He was willing to do it at $2,750 but I could not use a credit card (for that I had to go thru ABE at $3,000). No pictures available either. I have no reason to believe it wasn't all legit, but I just decided to shy away.
I have to admit, that it is an excellent price! Hope I don't kick myself later. My thought was to marry the issue with other partial sets to make a complete set (not same number) that I could sell at some future point.

Ok, question for y'all.
I have sets of 1-3 with slip case and am wondering the best way to sell. All together or as separate books?
I notice on ebay that Wastelands is getting around $50-60, but that's all I have seen on there.
Opinions?
Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.
Karen-
I think it may be a toss-up (not what you wanted to hear I am sure). I have seen some sets go for about $150 in the last 6 months, but some as low as $100.
Individually, yes, for some reason Wastelands is getting around $50 (when they can still buy new from Grant at $35 I believe). The 2nd edition DoTT might get you $20ish. A 3rd edition Gunslinger should net you $70 which adds to $150. Oh, and the case might only appear to someone who has a damaged one or individual books. Maybe $10 for it. Factor in the hassle of selling individually and shipping etc. I'd go with the set and hold firm on $150.

If your set is a 1,2,3 DT 1st Edition, I will be happy to buy for 150$
The market is crazy...here is a Gift Edition set for 199,00 euro "buy now"...

Is the ABA edition of Gerald's Game considered the true 1st, a proof, or a limited edition?
Maybe it'd be more simple to ask - in a collection of 1st editions which book represents Gerald's Game, the ABA or trade edition?
I would and do consider it a proof. In my opinion, the trade edition is the first. I say this because the ABA edition had a VERY limited distribution mainly only to booksellers, so that it makes it a proof.
John
What about the UK 1st of Dolores Claiborne, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, and Insomnia? Which are the true 1sts - the "gift" editions with slipcases or normal trade with dust jackets?
ABA edition stands for..?

CLUB STEPHEN KING (french website about STEPHEN KING, since 1992) : on : Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

The UK bookclub edition of GERALD'S GAME is the worldwide "true" first edition. It was published by BCA and the first printing is distinguished by the code "CN 5984" on the copyright page. Barry Levin has a story about it on his website and how it beat all other copies by a few days.
I wouldn't call the ABA edition of GERALD'S GAME a proof. I would call it an Advance Review Copy. To me the term "proof" implies the ability to "proofread" and make corrections prior to publication. This differs from an Advance Review Copy which is sent out to reviewers to generate positive reviews and word of mouth advertising. I believe that was the purpose of the ABA edition of GERALD'S GAME.
So the UK 1st of Dolores Claiborne is the Gift Edition, or no?
