Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
just to add a differing view...
My copy of Carrie is pretty nice, however on the rear back board (which is black) someone has signed their name (in Black biro). It's not immediately noticeable, but of course it's there and I know it's there. It almost certainly affects the value of the book (and it's the reason why I was able to afford to buy it at the time), but then again, i'm unlikely to sell it. There is possibility that I will upgrade it in the future, but it really doesn't bother me that much and would be a very low priority. Perfect examples of these high value books are beyond the reach of most of us and the majority of them are going to exhibit some minor flaw or other - -the quest for perfection is a long and expensive road. My advice, find a level of imperfection you can live with and enjoy owning the books.
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Great advice Stroppy.
Hi All,
I have been thinking about getting some of the original screenplays by Stephen King ( like Sleepwalkers, Maximum Overdrive) but there seem to be a great variation in prices and some are bound to be reproductions and not the originals. Is there a section on the site that shows what the originals look like?
I have recently bought the Sleepwalkers screenplay but I have seen one on Abebooks than looks totally different. Mine has a green/blue covers (similar hue to the Scribner proofs) and is comb-bound. Does this sound like a genuine copy?

Thanking you in advance for your help.
Jon
I can't speak to this specific screenplay. I do own others though.
Screenplays are difficult. Even the originals used in production would often just be photocopies. Sometimes there is writing that indicates it was actually used. This is one of the rare cases where writing on the collectible is a good thing. Especially if it is the author's writing.
The one you bought looks a bit showy for a working script. Mine all have unadorned, except for a simple title, card stock covers. The basic information is on the first page and not on the cover.
Perhaps Bruce, or someone else, actually has this screenplay and can be more helpful.

Somebody here already bought from "VJ Books" ? Any options ?
They're great. I recently bought a 1st edition of The Talisman signed by Peter Straub. They accidentally sent the 2012 reprint, instead of the actual 1st edition. When I emailed to explain the mistake, they immediately sent out the correct copy, along with a return postage slip. It was excellent customer service. I will definitely purchase from them again.
I have ordered from them and had excellent service. When I received the incorrect book once they immediately sent the correct one and a return postage label.
I have heard that they will ship internationally in a padded envelope though. You might want to verify the shipping method.

thanks guys,
usually something that looks to good ... however your feedback is enough for me , thanks!
One other thing with regard to their grading. Their highest grade is "mint". So if you order a book listed as "fine", it's not going to be as pristine as a "mint" copy. I had ordered a book in Fine condition and when it arrived, it wasn't what I would traditionally consider as fine. They handled it really well. Told me to ship it back and they issued a full refund. So if you're looking for as close to flawless as you can get, go with their "mint" grading.
Great service but below average packing. Had to replace 3 DJs of new books upon receipt due to minimal protection.
Yep, what everybody else said.
One more positive vote, plus i just got an email withthe code SAVE33 for 33% off new arrival titles. Every little bit helps!
"Thanks, but no, it isn't a cowboy hat. It's a fedora. And yes, Indianna Jones is still socially relevant."
as a passionated table-top card game collector, mint is the only thing acceptable ;D lol
thanks for the hint, checked and they all are marked mint - i am not sure how supportive they will be with returns over the pond, so i try to avoid that in before.
will add a note that they should take care - lets try what happens ;D
ordered, well 20% discount is a hell lot of money, for signing up a newsletter...
That's one of the reasons I've stayed away from it.
Hi
A basic question. Was the first UK edition of Wolves of the Calla hardback or paperback?
Thanks
Jon

All screenplays are now original xerox copies (in the old days before copy machines all scripts were hand typed.) Some come with covers & all are three hole punched (so rewrite pages can be added) In most cases rewrite pages are a different color paper each time it is changed & sometimes just dated on the top of the page.
One way to tell a copy is check the three punch holes the holes will Xerox black & sometimes will not match up with the new hole punch. In the case of this script the part of Charles has been highlighted in some parts of the script (it may have been used by actors trying out for the part or Brian Krause himself?)
Original Maximum Overdrive Revised pages.
Thanks Bruce. Looking at your copy, mine is definitely a later copy. The font is different and mine is a lot more difficult to read.
