Even though Misery was the top runner for a long time...the Shawshank Redemption has my vote for sure.
Even though Misery was the top runner for a long time...the Shawshank Redemption has my vote for sure.
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
Shawshank for non-horror, but Pet Semetary for scaring the pee out of me.
I'd also like to give special recognition to The Green Mile.
It's peanut butter jelly time!
Shawshank, hands down. Tho I do have a special place for The TV Miniseries The Stand. (IT could have been there, but Molly Ringwald? Really?)
"And within it, a stairway, perhaps rising to the Godhead itself. Would you dare climb to the top, gunslinger? Could it be that somewhere above all of endless reality, there exists a room?...
You dare not."
Mi him en tow
Mi tow can de lach.
Secret Window....and so far, The Mist looks promising.
I can't wait for The Mist. That one and "The Long Walk" have always been two of my most favorite shorts.
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
Green Mile for me. 1408 looks very cool.
In Digitized Remorse
So hard to choose between Shawshank and Green Mile.
Oh, and let's not forget Maximum Overdrive!
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
You know what sucks? Desperation is my favorite non-dark tower King book and I think that they really f'd up the movie.
Shawshank
Buddy, you think you look strong? You’re wearing a cape.
I had no idea that The Long Walk was made into a movie...I'll have to check that out. I liked that story.
It's really hard to choose between Misery and Shawshank. I'm gonna go with Misery cuz it was "traditional horror Stephen King."
My favorite adaptation so far was Green Mile.
I notice the title of the thread is, "What WASyour favorite movie"
I believ from watching the trailers that 1408 is going to blow them out of the water. Yes, they changed some stuff, but it was a short story, and needed more substance.
As soon as this movie come out I will be in here to update my favorite movie choice.
btw, the trailer is on youtube already. It's awesome.
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."
I haven't read 1408. It's on my SK booklist.
There actually isn't a movie of The Long Walk yet, but it is in the works. Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist) has optioned it, and says that he plans on doing it sometime in the future. The article where he discusses it can be found here.
As for my faves, I also would have to say Shawshank, although Stand By Me is right up there, too. As far as an actual horror film, I'm going to say Pet Sematary and The Shining (Kubrick).
Shawshank is definitely my fave, I've watched that many, many times. I do also love Stand By Me as well.
I'm going to risk jeers by saying 'It." Even though it was way different than the book, Tim Curry still makes one hell of a Pennywise. I'm a much better one, though:
Ok, not really.
There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long.. people. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution.
i loved shawshank, pet sematary for creeping me out and the shining for making me laugh so much
'He bowed low, right down to the ground, in front of the man sitting there motionless, whose smile reminded him of everything that he had ever loved in his life, of everything that had ever been of value and holy in his life.' Herman Hesse
Yeah, same here.So hard to choose between Shawshank and Green Mile.
dolores claiborne with stand by me not far behind.
Stand By Me - its one of my favourite films regardless.
Dang!! I forget about that one sometimes.
I'm still on Shawshank but that one is up there with Misery and the Green Mile
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
Yeah, Stand By Me is probably better than Green Mile and just as good as Shawshank...it's classic, even people who don't like King like those movies.
It's peanut butter jelly time!
Shawshank Redemption is in my top 10 movies of all time.
and Stand BY Makes me cry so hard...and laugh so much....
may fav line..( by memory ...not acurate I am sure )
Alright, alright, Mickey's a mouse, Donald's a duck, Pluto's a dog, what's Goofy?
