thanks for that Nerek, its good to know there are so many other DT nuts out there too!......

Nothing to report on the trade front, but it is holidays so just better be patient (not one of my finer points!)

I was amazed the link still worked after nealy three years closed.

I updated the buyer. I had it tracked thru July 2005 but missed the Dec 2005 auction update. Thanks.

I contacted Hal (who I haven't spoken to in several years) and told him of my list here and that I had identified 52 complete same-number sets. He responded that he remembered selling me #32 awhile back and also that he was the proud owner of complete set #1.

    How cool is that!

Possibly, the complete of 19 (considering the series), but still I don't know. That's pretty awesome having #1.

I'd be happy to have either.
Wiz, do you know if he obtained set #1 aftermarket, or was he the true #1 from the beginning?

    RF-
I do not know that answer for sure, but I will ask him and report back here. He indicated that he sold a set when he acquired #1 so intuitively that says he got #1 in the after market. I just asked him how he acquired #1 and from whom (if he can share that info).

    #1--Wow, that is amazing.

To me, much finer than 19 even though its a big number in the book. There is just something about #1

Here is the answer I got from Hal regarding set #1:

Hi David, Me and 2 other guys used to go over to Don Grant's house starting in the mid 70s. The 3 of us were Robert E Howard fans and Don was publishing those long before King. One of the 2 guys was the original owner of your #32. I originally had 2 sets but sold 1 set right away. Grant had a friend that helped him with his early publishing and there was an unverified rumor that he had originally owned up to 50 copies of the S&N first DT. The friend offered to sell me the #1 copy in the early 90's but the deal did not go through until several years later. I don't think that he will mind me telling you that his name is Dick Brisson. I know that he does not own a set of DT's at present and still don't know if that rumor was true, Thanks, Hal

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. - Edgar Allan Poe

Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity. - H.P. Lovecraft

I agree, it is very impressive. He built up the list over a long period of time, starting it pre-TDT.com. He's been updating and lengthening the list for quite a while with a lot of help from other collectors.
