Agreed. Only the Grant books should be considered for the set, and a "new" complete set will include all 8 books with the same number. I cannot imagine of the 50 odd complete sets that exist to our knowledge today, that many if any of those owners will not step up and get the same number of the new Revised Gunslinger S/L.
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

color me happy! I just got a sl of legends to go with my set of dt# 29 1-7. The legends book is also copy 29!
Congratulations, jemaher! That's a REAL accomplishment!
John
Congrats, jemaher! That is an impressive set!
"...that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little." ~ Ray Bradbury
I think only a very small fraction of those would include Legends, though. Yours may even be unique!
John
I know this set is already on the list, but Heritage Auction Galleries currently has #50 up for auction.
DT Set #50.
Looks like whoever they are selling the set for is selling off their entire King collection.
I might throw a bid at those UK S/Ls.

Gee, I never would have guessed. I've been to a couple of live auctions, and the premium was always 10%. I was shocked at 22.5 - Cripes, if you win the auction at $5000 it's an EXTRA grand!!!
Even if I was thinking to take a shot at it ( on account of really, really wanting to own a set ) there's no way I could afford the premium!

Well, you just have to factor in the buyer's premium in deciding what amount you are willing to bid. Then it is the same as any other auction. The auction house just gets a bigger percentage.
For instance, if you think $7,000 is a good price for a matching number set of the DT books, then you would bid $5670 (knowing that you would also owe 19% or $1330). Your total price would be $7,000.
Then it would be about the same as placing a $7,000 bid on eBay. You just have to adjust your thinking and bidding to allow for the buyer's premium.
One reason that I have not bid more often on Heritage Auctions is that I am in Texas and would also be hit with an 8.25% sales tax. I'm really used to internet type sales being free from state sales tax.
Yes, your explaination is a great way to look at it. I wish I could get a set, so badly, especially since this one is a low number.

Slightly old news, but complete set #50 was sold by Heritage Auctions Gallery for $10,300. I think in today's market, that is a fair price.

I wonder if the winner is here on these boards.

Sure was not me. I thought about how jmaher snagged the last set at a really low price and that maybe I'd bid just over the minimum, but this set went for much higher than that.
