Talkin' New York Blues, Bob Dylan
Some of my favorite Bob Dylan songs are the talkin' blues, especially Talking World War III Blues.
My father loved that one.
Steve Martin, plucking a banjo
oh no doubt, bob brought his incredible wit to the talkin' blues style and came up with some classics.
even the silly ones have some excellent moments
like this one...

LOL.
It's amazing, because now you even have indie rock bands that are completely appropriating Dylan's style.
There was one I heard the other day on my city's "alternative" rock station, and until I heard the DJ identify the band I thought I had just listened to Bob Dylan.
a. joe walsh is awesome (though i will not listen to his work with the eagles because, well, i hate the fucking eagles man.)
2. you are right on the money about the current trend in aping dylan's style. as someone who has always been a fan of dylan's voice, i like the idea that he still has an impact.
np:
the man in me - bob dylan
(no choice really, i talked about dylan and referenced the big lebowski in a single post, what other song could i put on next?)
Co-sign!
Almost all of the Eagles songs that I do like were written or sung by people who eventually left the band, e.g. the theme song for the BBC television adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
It astounds me that that group is the most popular band, by sales, at least, in the history of American rock music.
Echoes Myron - Guided by Voices
And ditto on all that Eagles shit.
Big town's got its losers, small town's got its vices...
if the worlds gonna end then let's get it over with, i got shit to do
Grand Illusion - Styx
